The Courts Of Heaven

Edward

2024 Supporter
I can't recall ever seeing a thread about the courts of heaven so I thought I'd start one. What can you tell me about the courts of Heaven.

Now don't everybody say that they never heard of the courts of heaven, lol. (I had not until recently!). But it makes sense that there is court proceedings in heaven, right? We have a God/Judge/Advocate/Divine Law/Throne....That's a courtroom Brothers & Sisters!

And now that I think about it, the episode in Job, where the sons of God came before the Lord and asked for permission to hassle Job...that sounds like a court proceeding. I bet it was.

What say ye?

Do you not know that we shall judge angels? 1 Corinthians 6:3a NKJV

So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. Matthew 19:20 NKJV

Hey Edward.

To start of by saying I am no expert in this or even anything at all by that matter.
Great start right? ?

I do however know a tiny bit about the court and justice.
The Bible has actually quite a lot to say about this.

I would like to point out what I personally believe to be the most important side of the subject and relevant for us today;
The Holy Spirit.

John 14:26
Read king James translation of this..
God is love and yet He is judge. He has to be because He is holy.
And so He's children has to be holy too.
Jesus made us holy (thank God) as soon as we choose to believe and follow.

As too Job.. I love that book and know that many can relate to it.
It is probably the oldest written book of the Bible..
Satan's Angel's were in my opinion set to test Job.
But be clear that this is only my personal opinion!

Satan did have access to God's courts in the old testament.
I don't believe that he still does tho.
As he is a defeated foe. And stripped from all authority.
At least this is definitely true for the believers..
Hope something is helpful.

Do you mean law court or do you mean a royal court as seen in revelation?
Human law or old testament law?
I think he is talking about God's court.
This is the royal Court.
God doesn't have several courts. It's one
Shalom

The Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool.

But what did Jesus say? In my Father's house there are MANY mansions.....
What do you mean? Does mansions mean courts?
I am from Norway and not very good in English. Not very bad either..

Mansions mean houses or residents.
And courts mean legal issues.
Right?
How do you link those together?

not always.

the temple had courts.

not always.

the temple had courts.
Yes. But the temple is not only a court in itself.
What do you mean then?
Several houses mean several court?
I don't believe so.
There is one God and so He is the only judge.
And then there can't be more than one judge.
We judge too. But only according to God's perfect will.

Ok. I understand now what you mean..
Shure.
But yet right is right and wrong is wrong..
Right?
???

On earth In the OT the term courts is used to refer to the part of the Temple where God was enthroned within the Holy of holies behind the veil where the Priest would go once a year to make atonement for the peoples sins, 1 Chronicles 28:6. After the veil was torn from top to bottom now we see in heaven this is God's court, Psa 100:4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. As it was in the Temple on earth so it is in the courts of heaven being a place of atonement where our prayers go forth within a heart of repentance and then our petitions set before Him as we worship and praise His holy name as He gives us the victory.

there will be a judgement .

I see the last book, using figurative symbols ,how does God who can exist every where have a body on a throne ?sure He can take a shape but well that's my point ,He said heaven is my,throne the earth my foot stool. jews and Hebrew it can be difficult

Where does it speak of a royal court? If I may ask.. :)
Can't find..
L
Revelation speaks of a throne in a room with a being on that throne surrounded by crowds all attendant on that being.
If you were familiar with Esther, Nermiah and other biblical passages that talk of a king on his throne one would see the resemblance.

Is there an actual protocol involved or is this al done in faith? But faith is a matter of will so it would have to be all done in faith. Doesn't this create a whole new dimension to prayer? I think it does!

We know God is judge of all things and that Jesus is our mediator before Him. I find nowhere in scripture (unless I am wrong) where it speaks of a judicial court in heaven like the ones here on earth, but only His court of praise in what I find. We do read about the Great White Throne Judgement, but those who stand before the Lord on that day have already been judged by God and given their rewards of eternal life or damnation as they are judged when the books are opened.

In the matter of prayer we bring the sacrifice of praise unto the house of the Lord as when we pray we only have to send our petition before Christ once and then continue thanking Him for answered prayer as we praise Him for the things He does for us. But we also have to remember that sometimes God answers us with a "no" as He knows what is best for us even though we might not understand at that time, but trust in His ways.

There is no protocol as all things are prayed in faith as we believe and trust in God for His answers to our prayers, even though they may not be the answers we want.

If I'm not wrong I think you are talking about Rev 4:1-4.

John in his vision sees twenty-four elders seated around the throne of God. The twenty-four elders in the heavenly sanctuary of God are responsible for worship, for the music of worship, and as such they stand as the gatekeepers of the house of God. The Elders in the Church here on earth are patterned after those in the heavenly realm, 1 Chronicles 24:7-19; 25:6-31; 26:12-19. These elders are clothed in white raiment which represents Gods glory in them and they have gold crowns upon their heads as they are Gods royal priesthood. The elders are representative of Gods chosen generations that he has called out of darkness into his marvelous light, 2 Peter 2:9 that are asleep in the grave and those who remain alive as God’s witnesses during the seven trumpet soundings before Jesus returns.

I found this series on youtube and I've been going through them. This one is particularly good.
