The crucifixion of Jesus

I just have to ask. Do any of you feel a deep pain and guilt over what Jesus had to do because of humanity? Or perhaps you did when you first found faith? Sure I am also grateful (deeply) and joyous that his love is so much more powerful than any sin.

But the pain he would of felt. I'm an empath and it really is painful to think about. He bared the pain humanity deserves for our sins. Sinning brings me so much guilt. I understand we have such inclinations because of this fallen world and what Adam and Eve did but I still feel so guilty. How can we sin no matter how small knowing what pain it caused to our perfect and innocent creator and father?

I hope I'm not being rude by asking this. It's just, everyone always talks about how happy they are because they get to go to heaven now as long as they repent and believe. And yes I agree but noone seems to bring up this side of it, the painful reality of what Jesus went through because of us...

Its a little bit like how I notice a lot of religious people talk about paradise as a "reward" to the point where that seems to be their only reason why they obey God's laws. But, surely your deeper reason should be because you want to be a good person, on the good and righteous side of humanity? Heaven is merely a bonus that we dont even really deserve, but we can have a chance because of God's incredible love for us.

The vast majority of my prayers are gratitude and sorrow. I do ask for things but when I do I make sure to express gratitude for what I already have, and as soon as I see him working in my life after asking I thank him for it. I don't feel right only praying for personal gains. He already did something so much bigger and deeper than anything any of us could ever ask for. He died for us. And he suffered great pain. He was the only sinless person to walk the Earth.. yet he paid for everyone else's sins. Purely out of love. And a second chance for us all.

Prim, for me I think it is more sorrow that I feel for Jesus in what He had to suffer on the cross for our sins. Sorrow because the Lord of All Creations was humiliated, tormented, and wrongfully condemned to death by the very people He came to save. The irony of it all must have astounded Him. I imagine it must have been a great spiritual, psychological, and physical ordeal for Him at the time. Yet, Jesus chose to sacrifice Himself for our sake so that feeling of sorrow for me is often immediately accompanied by gratitude and joy-- because He conquered death once and for all. His suffering was short-lived (though three days of hanging on that cross was by no means short in itself) compared to the eternal glory that awaited Him.

Indeed, none of us are deserving of our salvation and God didn't even have to do it. He didn't need to gift us with the promise of eternal life in Heaven. But my sense of gratitude and the anticipation of being with Christ forever in Heaven allow me to focus more on what lies ahead than what had occurred in the past. Yes, we need to remember the great sacrifice of Jesus and refrain from sinning knowing that sin hurts God and prevents us from getting closer to Him. But at the same time, I think it is equally important to look forward to the day when we will meet Jesus face to face. This could be a good motivator for our daily walk with Christ, no? :)

Good incite PrimFinallyFoundGod!.
If we think about sin, like seeing our own child being sinned against so that our son/daughter is in agony, we wouldn't allow it, without serving justice.
This is exactly how our Father views sin...no different from his express image being sinned against. To the unrepentant, an abomination that causes desolation.

It breaks my heart that we were so sinful that Jesus had to suffer the way He did for the great love He has for everyone. He never even uttered a word. I could only hope I could deal going through something so severe and painful in order to lay my life down for another if it brings even one person to Christ.
Wow! That's my hope also for_his_glory.
I think he opened not his mouth in judgement against sinners, to condemn us, but so that we would see our need for forgiveness. I hate seeing weaker people or things being abused. So does God.
Judgement day is sealed at death. I think on that day, sinners will find themselves being destroyed because they were unprepared to meet him.

why would you feel guilt or anyone for that matter jesus did what he had to do which was prophesied when man first sinned remember God created satan not you so it was and it is not our fault in the first place we where innocent children who fell to the works of satan who was sent or allwed by god into the world to tempt us

I would have to say no to that Prim, since I did not live prior, but I am very sympathetic to the torture he had to endure for our benefit. He was the greatest most loving man who ever lived.

Rather than feeling guilt or sadness, consider feeling appreciative, honored, and loved. Jesus did it for you and for me, for all of us. He knew what had to be done and He did it without reservation. We ought to honor and glorify Him for the sacrifice that He made on our behalf.

"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. These things I command you, that you love one another."

Interesting premise ... :chin ... what is the primary cause of Christ's death?

The Value of Man
  • Daniel 4:35 “All the inhabitants of the earth are regarded as nothing. But He does according to His will in the host of heaven And among the inhabitants of the earth; And no one can hold back His hand Or say to Him, ‘What have You done?’
  • Isaiah 48:9 “For the sake of My Name I refrain from My wrath, And for My praise I restrain Myself from you, So that I do not cut you off.
  • God gains nothing from us which harmonizes with His immutability, independence and sufficiency

God’s Ultimate Purpose is HIS GLORY & HIS PLEASURE (sola Deo Gloria)
  • God cannot will any other thing but himself as his end, because there is nothing superior to himself in goodness. Stephen Charnock
  • God cannot so properly be said to make the creature his end, as himself. For the creature is not as yet considered as existing. Edwards, Jonathan.
  • Isaiah 43:21 “The people whom I formed for Myself will make known My praise.
  • Ephesians 3:10 So now through the church the multifaceted wisdom of God [in all its countless aspects] might now be made known [revealing the mystery] to the [angelic] rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.
  • Psalm 106:8 Nevertheless He saved them for His name’s sake, That He might make His [supreme] power known.
Conclusion
There is only one Being that has intrinsic worth and all things are made to manifest that Being's glory. The salvation of chosen men is a secondary outcome used to manifest God's glory. Christ was obedient to God. Christ died to manifest God's glory by saving those the Father created ... those whom from Him [all things originate] and through Him [all things live and exist] and to Him are all things [directed]. To Him be glory and honor forever! (Romans 11:36)

Why is God mindful of man and set all his creations under man, to crown man with glory and honour.

Christ was crowned with glory and honour, to taste death for every man by the grace of God.

Many sons are brought to glory, by the Captain of our soul perfect in sufferings.

Both they who are sanctified and He that sanctifies are all one.

We are part takers in the sufferings of Christ, otherwise we add suffering to Christ. ( one or the other.)

Psalms 8:4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

Hebrews 2:5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.
6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest him?
7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:
8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.

Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels FOR THE SUFFERING OF DEATH, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make THE CAPTAIN OF THEIR SALVATION PERFECT THROUGH SUFFERINGS
11 For both HE THAT SANCTIFIETH AND THEY WHO ARE SANCTIFIED ARE ALL OF ONE: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

2 Corinthians 1:5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.

2 Corinthians 4:10 ALWAYS BEARING ABOUT IN THE BODY THE DYING OF THE LORD JESUS, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
11 FOR WE WHICH LIVE ARE ALWAYS DELIVERED UNTO DEATH FOR JESUS' SAKE, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

Colossians 1:24 Who now rejoice in MY SUFFERINGS FOR YOU and FILL UP THAT WHICH IS BEHIND OF THE AFFLICTIONS OF CHRIST IN MY FLESH FOR HIS BODY'S SAKE, which is the church:
25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;
26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is CHRIST IN YOU, THE HOPE OF GLORY:
28 Whom we preach, WARNING EVERY MAN, and teaching every man in all wisdom; THAT WE MAY PRESENT EVERY MAN PERFECT IN CHRIST JESUS:
29 Whereunto I also labour, STRIVING ACCORDING TO HIS WORKING, which worketh IN ME MIGHTILY.

I think that is the point and you are correct that it is seldom given much consideration. But if you read thru the Levitical animal sacrifice system, you come to the same conclusion. In preparation for the passover celebration, a lamb had to be brought into the house to live with the family for 2 weeks, basically becoming the kids' pet. Then it gets slaughtered and eaten on the evening. In every case, the owner of the animal had to be present at the slaughter, It was to teach us how much God hates sin, that WE should be the ones to die for our sin and not some innocent animal.

The crucifixion of Christ is the result of no faith in man, so that man hates God, betrays and murders even Him.

The forgiveness of God, is because only by man recognising what he is ( evil) that God is good, to forgive such evil, and to also take the evil away ( forgiveness of His own Son sacrificed/pure blood) for man to have pure faith in the Holy Lord God.

Shadows/patterns in scripture, show a little view of what God will be doing, but they cannot lead us to faith, as they were not faith. ( our hearts are purified through faith in Christ.)

To feel any sorrow for Christ, can only be if we are allowed to see what we are, and what God is to answer to give us hope, we are saved by that hope.

According to Matthew 26:39, that might not be entirely true.
PrimFinallyFoundGod!, I would like to clarify what I meant. To have reservation about doing something indicates having doubt. Jesus did not have doubt about what had to be done. He certainly didn't enjoy the prospect, which is what I suspect rstrats is getting at. In either case, the will of the Father took precedence over His own apprehension.
