This was Carl Sagan's last book. It is absolutely brilliant. It underscores the problem with an increasingly science and technology driven world with a superstitions and uneducated public. It take pseudo science, astrology, faith healers and the like to task. It is a must read for everyone.

The problem with Carl Sagan is that, having abandoned faith in a supernatural God, he looks for a natural substitute in a magical cosmos, inhabited by space aliens. He seems pre-disposed (prejudiced) to believe in the likely existence of aliens from other planets in "the cosmos". Since the cosmos is all there is, in his natural view, then belief in intelligent aliens is such a man's "only hope". Maybe the extraterrestrials will "save" us on earth from our earth's apocalypse, having evolved to a higher state as superior alien beings who are surprisingly believed, without reason, to be benevolent. Faith in the existence of good angels is replaced by belief in good extraterrestrial space aliens. Go figure!
