The Great Porn Experiment (interesting)

Whether you are addicted to porn or not, you will find this interesting from a science and, if you are a Christian, spiritual viewpoint:

I've learned over the years as a Christian that the church has been wrong to dismiss the science of these created bodies when addressing the sin issue. Though my blood runs red, and I'm not addicted to porn, and never have been (for whatever the reason) I first began to realize that human sexuality is what God built into each one of us (I call it the 'reproductive impulse') and that it is not something shameful and evil, but rather needs to be governed the way commands that it be governed. And like so much of what God commands 'so it will go well with us'.

What a lot of "christian" men call natural, Jesus didn't:

Matthew 5:28
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

I think this notation was specific by Jesus because it basically will "convict" every "normal" male of sin if they submit to the conclusion of Jesus above.

Paul was no different:

1 Corinthians 7:1
Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.

There is a reverse process that transpires when we fast for example. It's not unusual to be diminished from the quest for dopamine, and the compelling of the flesh, by putting the flesh down in it's demands.

Job made this a practice for himself. Not that it did him any good, but whatever:

Job 31:1
I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?

Sex is sex. An action of the flesh. And always accompanied by desire/lust, which we are inescapably bound to in the flesh, regardless. Most christians prefer to see these things as holy when performed under whatever religious constructs/auspices they have in their heads and not if not therein engaged. I consider that an unlikely posture. I don't believe in "holy sex."

I find it ironic.
Guys who want physical intimacy can't have the real thing. Those who abstain from porn have a "leg up" to actually attract and get the women that the porn users can only dream of getting.

This whole thing is really coordinated with the new trends in the demographics of our younger population. Men are no longer going to post secondary school but women are. Women have an uphill battle of finding a man who is their intellectual equal and often are settling for less than what they want.
Meaning that a guy who abstains from porn but goes to college will generally speaking gain the best of the best wives available and have the best rewards our society has to offer.

Kinda interesting. Especially in light of the manner our society seems bent on heading these days. We know the truth but want a lie instead. Mob rule or appeasing the masses is not what we really need... We need leadership and dedication to morality instead of legalism... Which is what we have currently. And history has shown us that this is impossible.

What's wrong is coming to the conclusion that all sex is, categorically, evil. The Bible does not support this in any way shape or form. Here's God's blessing that he pronounces over the man and his wife:

" 18 Let your fountain be blessed,
And rejoice in the wife of your youth.

19 As a loving hind and a graceful doe,
Let her breasts satisfy you at all times;
Be exhilarated always with her love." (Proverbs 5:18-19 NASB)

God's prohibition is against rejoicing in your neighbor's wife.

1 Corinthians 7:1
Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
But not because marriage and sex are evil, but so the Christian can serve the Lord in undivided attention (1 Corinthians 7:33-34 NASB). Paul himself says you have not sinned if you marry (1 Corinthians 7:28 NASB). It's just simply better to live in service to God unmarried, according to one's gift to do so, which he acknowledges not everyone has (1 Corinthians 7:7 NASB).

It's not unusual to be diminished from the quest for dopamine, and the compelling of the flesh, by putting the flesh down in it's demands.
Yes, a very useful, very natural thing that God has built into us. The whole concept proves how true it is that we are slaves to whatever we offer ourselves to be slaves to. It's not a joke. God is not mocked by our arrogant indulgence of the passions and appetites of the flesh (Romans 6:16 NASB). He has given us wise spiritual counsel to not let that happen to us, but to become slaves of righteous living instead (Romans 6:19 NASB).

Most christians prefer to see these things as holy when performed under whatever religious constructs/auspices they have in their heads and not if not therein engaged. I consider that an unlikely posture. I don't believe in "holy sex."
This is completely indefensible. Biblically, sex and procreation is a God given joy and privilege right from the beginning of creation:
"male and female He created them. 28God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth" (Genesis 1:27-28 NASB). Rejoice, Christian men, in the wife of your youth.
"He who finds a wife finds a good thing And obtains favor from the LORD" (Proverbs 18:22 NASB)

"3Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. 4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. 5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them." (Psalm 127:3-5 NASB)

Never said it was. Nor is sex holy. Nor does the notion of fruitful multiplication revolve around sex and and human procreation, unless one happens to be Mormon, which I'm not.

Nor is sex holy.
Like I say, the scriptures do not support that thinking at all. It is set apart as a purposeful blessing to a man and his wife. That's a holy thing.

Yes, it certainly points to and signifies a more important spiritual multiplying and fruit bearing of Christ in ecstatic union with, and in, his bride, the church. But that hardly makes the natural reality used to illustrate that spiritual truth meaningless and not holy.

I don't believe the 'sex act' in and of itself is holy. It's entirely in the natural/flesh order. And yes, God did ordain the natural/flesh order, but not necessarily as a "holy" order whatsover.

The natural order serves God's Purposes. But not all that serves His Purposes is necessarily holy.

It is ironic. The speaker points out what the digital porn addict does NOT have in his ecstatic, but unreal relationship with the many women he indulges on line:
  • Courtship
  • Touching
  • Being touched
  • Smells
  • Pheromones
  • Emotional connection
  • Interaction with a person
They are deceived into thinking that somehow an online sexual experience is what they are truly longing for and is what will satisfy them. Not true when you consider the many needs and desires an actual sexual experience satisfies for a man. Fulfilling these needs in an actual God ordained relationship is healthy and satisfying. But for the porn addict his bondage to unhealthy and never fulfilled interests and desires is his payday.

I used to say that, too. Prolly right here in this forum, too. I know that to be entirely false now. Sexual needs are not just physical, nor do they serve to only populate the earth.

Women don't seem to have the same addiction men do to Internet porn. Not that they can't or won't but the numbers say that women generally speaking won't...and prefer the real life emotional experience. (Which can create snakes of another breed)
So men seeking real relationships vx Internet porn have not only the drive but aptitude and physical ability to have them.
And the "dreamers" are having an uphill battle to emotionally connect with anyone.
And with the lack of men who abstain from porn the "loser guys" are getting the hottest babes.

Obviously our opinions of the natural body are different.

I'm of the sight Paul provides, that the body is vile. Phil. 3:21. And there are many reasons that it is so, again provided by the text. It is natural and flesh. Far from "holy." And the flesh is contrary to the Spirit as well. Gal. 5:17.

None of these facts will derive 'holy sex' as credible sight. But people's fantasies run pretty deep in this particular category.

The use of modern definitions for Olde English language is deceptive. And you have gotten caught up in that.

You're right. I looked up the KJV word 'vile' once in Strong's and it does not convey what smaller thinks it does.
And besides, Paul said this about the flesh:
"let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God." (2 Corinthians 7:1 NASB)

If our bodies are literally vile in and of themselves, we would have to die to cleanse ourselves from the defilement of that flesh. And I'm pretty sure that is NOT what Paul is suggesting we do in the verse above. :)

I have a porn problem. Sex wasNT a sin until the fall.and God Made Adam and Eve and called that good.

I'd dare say if we can't rely on verbiage in the good old KJV we may as well ad lib our own terms and write our own bibles. Oh, wait. That's already happened.

If our bodies are literally vile in and of themselves, we would have to die to cleanse ourselves from the defilement of that flesh. And I'm pretty sure that is NOT what Paul is suggesting we do in the verse above. :)

There is little question about Paul's teaching that sin indwells the flesh as a universal condition of mankind. Believers are not an exception. And hence, the defilement of the body. Jesus also points out the same matter, showing that evil thoughts defile us as well. I'm sure you know the citings well enough by now.

Sexual sins via evil thoughts rank right up there with the worst of them.

Matt. 15:
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 These are the things which defile a man

So, yeah. Toying around with things in mind many believing men think are "just natural" could very well be the opposite, such as with delighting ones self with online porn. Exposing ones mind to defilement usually winds up taking the people engaged therein progressively down the sin road. The defilement of sin is an internal matter and that is where it starts. In the 'fantasy' sex mind of men, in particular. Matt. 5:28 for example from Jesus.

Sex with your wife is covenantal and sacramental. Porn ruins that in so many ways, and our sex-obsessed culture has trampled upon that so much that 90% of people think sex is a filthy act. It can be filthy, joining your flesh outside of a covenant or a sacrament as a means to gratify the flesh nature, just as filthy as it is to eat as a glutton (and I'm guilty of both things, Lord forgive me) -- adultery and fornication are evil, but the marriage bed is pure, creative, and life-giving.

A balanced view of biblical sex.if sex in marriage is impure then marriage is also fleshly.the jews argue that to a degree.
