The New Testament's Demons Are As Real As It Gets.
By JAG
August 31, 2021

They are bodiless spirits of fallen angels. They strongly desire to get
back inside a body ~ and the bodies of pigs will do just fine.

How can we be certain they are bodiless spirits? Because if they had
bodies of their own, they wouldn't be begging to be allowed to use the
bodies of pigs. "The demons begged Jesus to let them go into the pigs."
{Luke 8:32) (same in Mark 5:9-13}

Once upon a time I was puzzled reading about demons ~ in the New
Testament I mean. They also made me just a wee bit uneasy. Are demons
really real? The Bible is the inspired inerrant word of God, I never doubted
that, but we're living in modern times and there has to be some other
explanation. Wrong. Demons are as real as dogs, dolphins, and daffodils,
and here is what I think happened:

There was war in heaven. We know that. We've read about it in Rev. 12:7-9.

In that war . . .

Michael and his good angles killed the physical bodies of Satan and his evil
angels and sent their bodiless spirits hurling down to earth ~ where they now,
apparently crave above all else, to get back inside a body and they'll even beg
to be allowed to enter hogs if its that or nothing.

Let's take a minute and read Rev. 12:7-9 together:

"Then war broke out in Heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon,
and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they
lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled to the earth ~ that ancient
serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to
the earth, and his angels with him."

So there was War in Heaven . . .

And this is what Jesus said about that war:

"I saw Satan fall like lightning from Heaven." {Luke 10:18}

In Rev. 12:9 the Apostle John said the same thing like this:

"Satan "was hurled down . . . He was hurled to the earth."

Jesus' disciples said to Him: "even the demons submit to us in Your name"
{Luke 10:17}. Upon hearing that Jesus immediately came back with "I saw
Satan fall like lightning from heaven." {Luke 10:18}

So?

So there is a direct connection between demons on the earth and that
War in Heaven where Satan was kicked out and hurled like lightning
to the earth.

Moreover . . .

Demons, now spirits without bodies, hate their present condition. They need
to occupy bodies so they can meaningfully interact with their surroundings.
They find living without a body to be extremely unpleasant.

And even pigs will do . . .

Again, "the demons begged Jesus to let them go into the pigs" {Luke 8:32}

And they actually did that.

Jesus gave them permission and then "they went into the pigs." {Luke 8:33}.

Being inside a body keeps them out of the Unpleasant Void. When they are not
occupying a body, they are in a place they don't want to be. They call it The Abyss.
"They begged Jesus repeatedly not to order them to go into the Abyss. {Luke 8:31}
(The NIV capitalizes the word Abyss.) They're smart enough to avoid The Abyss, if
they can.

The New Testament's demons are persons with intelligence that can carry on a
conversation. They did exactly that with Jesus in Luke 8:26-33.

And they know how important the Lord Jesus is:

"A demon-possessed man . . . [shouted] what do You want with me, Jesus, Son
of the Most High God?" {Luke 8:27-28}

And demons can feel pain and they want to avoid it. One demon said to Jesus, "I beg
You don't torture me." {Luke 8:28}.

The New Testament's demons know that Pain is in their future.

"What do You want with us, Son of God? [the demons] shouted. Have You come
here to torture us before the appointed time?" {Matthew 8:29}.

Here is a comforting thought . . .

God protects His people from demons:

Christians cannot be possessed by demons. We have the Holy Spirit
living within us {1 Cor. 6:19}. and He protects us from the Evil One.
The power of The Cross, the Resurrection, and the Exaltation {Jesus
now being seated at the right hand of Almighty God} has secured
eternal redemption for we who believe in the Lord Jesus as our
Savior. Thank You Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit for loving us,
for saving us, and for protecting us from the Evil Ugly One.

Demons are sentient beings {able to perceive and feel things}. They
are self aware. "I beg you not to torture ME", said one demon. {Luke
8:28}.

More than one demon spirit can occupy the same human body. "What
is your name?", asked Jesus. "Legion", he replied because many demons
had gone into [the man]." {Luke 8:30}

So what can we conclude from all this?

(1) Demons are looking for susceptible people to occupy. They need a
body.
(2) Being fallen angels, they're no more mysterious than angels. We
don't find angels to be hugely mysterious. We understand a lot about
who they are and what they do. Demons are the spirits of fallen angels
who followed their leader Satan in rebellion against God and like Satan,
were kicked out of heaven and hurled bodiless to the earth where they
began searching for humans susceptible to being demon possessed.
Their bodies were killed during the War in Heaven and they don't like
being in that condition. They crave bodies so they can escape The Abyss
and remain on earth interacting with the much more enjoyable aspects
of human life.

How about now? Do demons occupy humans today, 21st century?

I think they do.

Why is it hard to believe that Charles Manson was demon possessed? Nine
murders in four locations. Cult leader of the Manson Family who had
mesmerizing control over approximately 100 followers. You ever looked into
the eyes {pictures} of Charles Manson? Spooky. Scary stuff.

How about Jeffery Dahmer the Milwaukee Cannibal? A serial killer, sex offender,
and murderer who dismembered 17 men and boys and ate some of them. Dahmer
was also into Necrophilia {sex with dead people . . . with corpses}

So?

So why is it difficult to believe that Jeffery Dahmer was demon possessed?

And what about the "Rev." Jim Jones and what happened in Jonestown
in Guyana? 918 people drank cyanide-laced Kool Aid and laid down to
die under the captivating control of demonic Evil "Rev." Jim. You ever
read "Our Father Who Art In Hell: The Life And Death Of Jim Jones"?
Don't. It's not pretty.

Why is it difficult to believe that Jim Jones was demon possessed.

And how about the world's criminally "insane" murderers, torturers,
and rapists ~ locked away in maximum security cells. How many of
them could be occupied by the spirits of Satan's fallen angels?

And why wouldn't they be?

[]

Epilogue.

It was noised abroad that some Christians actually put the personal blame
on Charles Manson, Jeffery Dahmer, and Jim Jones for what they did and
had the nerve to label it as sin against the God of the Bible.

"Listen", said Sly Sigh-Chiatrist, "we don't like the Bible, or the God of the
Bible, or the concept of personal sin."

"That's exactly right, we surely do not", replied Cunning Sigh-Chologist,
"so let's invent some pseudo-intellectual gobbledygook medical-sounding
terminology to befuddle the easily-befuddled masses."

"That's a splendid idea", cooed Sly Sigh-Chiatrist, "how 'bout 'borderline
personality disorder' and 'psychotic disorder' and here's a really good one
'schizotypal personality disorder'. Will these get the job done?"

"Yes, I think they will", replied Cunning Sigh-Chologist, "and let's add 'psychosis'
and 'schizophrenia' to the list. The masses will swallow our science-sounding
bafflegab hook, line, and sinker. Gullibility flows strong and thick 21st century."

"I love it", smirked Sly Sigh-Chiatrist, "and then the masses will have to come
to us and give us their money for our therapy treatments and our pills."

"Exactly", grinned Cunning Sigh-Chologist, "and at the same time we can get
rid of the outdated notions of God and personal sin."

"Okay then", smiled Sly Sigh-Chiatrist, "let's do it."

And so they did.

I disagree.
Calling fallen angels as being demons is an assumption.
What you did here was piece together various different pieces of Scripture and came up with your own conclusions.
If demons were fallen angels, then Jesus or somebody in the New Testament would have said so.
It amazes me how many people put things together like this and think they come up with some great revelation.

Agree. Completely. Getting Christians and the world as a whole to view satan and his minions as mythical creatures is part of his diabolical plan. Ever seen rosemary’s baby? Yeah….

What scripture indicates that an angel has a body that can be killed ?

My understanding is an angel is a spirit that can take on a human form if it is needed .

Start with this question:
Do you really believe that Satan and his angels were hurled to earth
where they were walking around on earth with physical bodies?

"Then war broke out in Heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon,

Is there some reason you assume that when angels appeared

Where is the scriptural support for angels having a physical body that can be killed ?

Angels don't die .
Luke 20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
Do you really believe that Satan and his angels were hurled to earth
where they were walking around on earth with physical bodies?
Psalms 104:4 Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:

Angels are spirits . When angels interact with humans they sometimes take on a human form if it is necessary for their mission .

Are demons and fallen angel real ? YES !

FYI , they can pay you a visit . That is why you should have the Whole Armor of God .

Ephesians 6
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

JAG .. I have to respectfully disagree with you about demons and the war in heaven between Michael and Satan. Will put this in to parts as it's long.

Angels are essentially “ministering spirits,” (Hebrews 1:14) and do not have physical bodies like humans. Jesus declared that “a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have” (Luke 24:37-39). Only God can incarnate them for the purpose of His ministry here on earth, Genesis 18:2-8.

The Bible classifies some angels as “elect” (1 Timothy 5:21) or “holy” (Matthew 25:31; Mark 8:38). All angels were created to be holy, enjoying the presence of God (Matthew 18:10) and the beauty of heaven (Mark 13:32). But, the angel we call Satan who has been given many names rebelled against God as he became prideful and wanted everything that was God's as he wanted to be God , Ezekiel 28:13-17. Within his rebellion he also took a third of the angels who followed after Him and cast them down to the earth, Rev 12:3, 4. These angels oppose God under the leadership of Satan as being his messengers here on earth as they too are created spirits of God that is why God could never destroy any of them because a spirit can not die. (Matthew 25:41; 2 Peter 2:4; Jude 1: 6; Ephesians 6:12). We often call these types of angels demons/devils/evil spirits/unclean spirits for which an everlasting fire is prepared by God for Satan and these angels, Matthew 25:41.

The term demon comes from the Greek "daimon". Demons (fallen angels) are also called evil spirits, unclean spirits and devils in scripture as they are disembodied spirits as angels have no form. The use of the terminology of demons, evil spirits, unclean spirits and devils are interchangeable in scripture as they all mean the same thing. They exist in a demonic realm as principalities, Romans 8:38, 39; Ephesians 6:12, and have a hierarchy of rulership controlled by Satan as being his messengers, Matthew 12:22-30; Mark 3:22; Luke 4:35. They have no physical form, but can viciously posses a body, Matthew 8:16-31; 12:43-45. Demons are numerous in numbering and can also speak like the Legion (2000) of unclean spirits in Mark 5:9.

Part 2

Rev 12 the war between Michael and his angels and Satan (red dragon) and his angels has not happened yet as Satan still has access to the throne room of God. The timing of this war will be when the son of perdition takes its seat in Jerusalem as we are to flee to the wilderness when this takes place, Matthew 24:15-21.

The other sign John saw was a great red dragon meaning Satan. Remember, this is a vision and a sign as Satan has not yet been thrown out of heaven yet. The description of the dragon being great and red depicts its nature and character as being fierce and murderous, John 8:44. This red dragon is depicted as having seven heads, ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. The seven heads and ten horns refer to the original ten kingdoms of which three were subdued by the little horn of Daniel 7:8.

The crowns on its heads show that this dragon claims royal authority against the true King who is God of all creation as he prepares to take his seat above all that which is Gods Kingdom claiming he is God as he prepares to deceive the world through that of an existing Roman Empire, Daniel 8:9-12; Isaiah 14:12-15.

These angels that Satan cast down to earth are a third part of Gods holy angels that have made their allegiance to Satan as he uses them to work through the lust of others here on earth. The spiritual kingdom of Satan and his demon angels is the spiritual realm below the Spiritual realm where God and His angels dwell. Satan is called the prince of the power of the air as being the ruler of the kingdom of the air, Ephesians 2:2-6; 6:12. He has access to the heavenly realm of God, but only through Gods permission as he stands before God accusing the brethren, Zechariah 3:1, Job 1:6, 7; Revelation 12:10. Satan has access to God and also spiritually walks to and fro on earth as he works through others to deceive the nations, Job 1:7. This is how he was allowed to tempt Job and tried to deceive Jesus, Matthew 4:1.

These angels are used of Satan to speak heresies against God as Satan uses them to control the thoughts and minds of those with a lustful heart. Hebrews 13:2 says not to be forgetful to entertain strangers as some are angels unaware to them. Satan also uses his angels unaware to people to deceive them with a twisted word and false religions that lead into idol worshiping as these idols become their gods.

The woman here represents the true congregation of God that flees to the wilderness for 1290 days just as Jesus forewarned her to do so in Matthew 24:15, 16. Jesus said when you see the abomination that causes desolation stand in the holy place Jesus is speaking about the son of perdition (the beast out of the earth, 2 Thessalonians 2:3-12; Rev 13) taking a literal seat in Jerusalem on the very Temple Mount of God where the Dome of the Rock presently stands.

bodies of pigs. "The demons begged Jesus to let them go into the pigs."
{Luke 8:32) (same in Mark 5:9-13}

"I saw Satan fall like lightning from Heaven." {Luke 10:18}

Satan fall like lightning from heaven." {Luke 10:18}

And even pigs will do . . .

Again, "the demons begged Jesus to let them go into the pigs" {Luke 8:32}

And they actually did that.

Jesus gave them permission and then "they went into the pigs." {Luke 8:33}.

Being inside a body keeps them out of the Unpleasant Void. When they are not
occupying a body, they are in a place they don't want to be. They call it The Abyss.
"They begged Jesus repeatedly not to order them to go into the Abyss. {Luke 8:31}

"A demon-possessed man . . . [shouted] what do You want with me, Jesus, Son
of the Most High God?" {Luke 8:27-28}

"Legion", he replied because many demons
had gone into [the man]." {Luke 8:30}

Dahmer
was also into Necrophilia {sex with dead people . . . with corpses}

Thanks for taking the time to put together this info for all of us.

I agree demons are real.

Though you are I may not agree on each detail of fallen angels and demons, I believe we agree they are evil and we as Christians have authority to stand against their evil plan to destroy us, and blind people from the truth of Jesus Christ.

Thank you for being polite and respectful of each persons comments.

God bless you and fill you with His Spirit and strength as you expose the evil works of darkness.

Amen.

FHG, thanks for writing that up ~ Part 1 and Part 2. I appreciate all the
thought and effort you put into that. Angels and demons and all their
activities are a fascinating area.

Best Regards.

It's in Jude 1:6
When I asked:
"Is there some reason you assume that when angels appeared
on earth, that they were not in their own bodies?"__JAG

I meant, for example, when the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary in
Luke 2:26 ff ~ is there some reason why we ought NOT to believe
than Gabriel was in his own body?

Best.

The fallen angels left their first estate...and the original language transliterates that as house or dwelling, which is how our body is referred to in scripture. Those were the fallen angels, not God's Angels who didn't fall. Like Gabriel for instance, he did not fall so still has his spiritual body. Good Angels seem to always appear as men in scripture.

You do have a lot right, but you also have some portions wrong in your OP.

You need to do a study on Genesis 6 to understand where the demons came from. Demons are bodiless spirits but they are not fallen angel spirits.

It is my belief that the demons are in fact, the disembodied spirits of the Nephilim so not the fallen Angels.
