The Seventy First Week revealed in Revelation

Its plain, after 7+62+7 =69, AFTER 69th week or in the 70th week Messiah crucified fulfilling all in Dan. 9:24.

25 "Know therefore and understand, That from the going forth of the command To restore and build Jerusalem Until Messiah the Prince, There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; The street shall be built again, and the wall, Even in troublesome times.
26 "And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself.

I realize all pretrib folks want to spilt the last week, but Christ's sacrifice accomplishes everything predicted in Dan. 9:24

24 "Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy.

After the seventy weeks end about 37 AD the rest of Dan. 9:26 telescopes from the Destruction of the Temple Time of the Gentiles to the End Time Week revealed in the Book of Revelation.

The end time week is in Daniel 9:27

27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate." (Dan. 9:27 NKJ)

It’s plain your equation equals 76 weeks.

JLB
Not at all. The 70th week ends about 37-38AD, Christ was crucified about 33AD.

Dan. 9:26 b implies a gap, "the people of the prince who is to come" (=Romans), destroy the Temple in 70AD and in 131AD banish the Jews from Jerusalem:

24 "And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. (Lk. 21:24 NKJ)

Daniel 9:27 is by itself, another week not part of the Seventy Weeks. It is the Week John reveals:

The Two Witnesses prophesy the first half of the "week", then the Antichrist slays them:

2 "But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months.
3 "And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth."
4 These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the God of the earth.
5 And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner.
6 These have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire.
7 When they finish their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them. (Rev. 11:1-7 NKJ)

In Revelation 13:2 the Roman Empire to come in the first half of the week has a "mouth like a lion" because the "man of Sin" False Christ is its ruler proponent:

NKJ Revelation 13:1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name.
2 Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. (Rev. 13:1-2 NKJ)

But in the middle of the Week, the "Man of Sin" "False Christ" declares himself to be "the Son of Destruction."

He then ends at mid-week all sacrifice and offerings to other gods globally (Dan. 9:27).

This is when he "ascends from the abyss" declaring himself to be the "seed of Satan" (Gen. 3:15) "Son of Perdition" or "Son of Destruction" (2 Thess. 2:3-4).

That is when the Ten Horns (Kings) destroy the Harlot Babylon (Rev. 17:16-18)= false religion that began in the Tower of Babylon(Babel). Global Religion that prostitutes itself to world's rulers and is no longer needed because the "Son of Destruction" "Antichrist" declares himself the only God.

Then the Antichrist slays the two witnesses, and rules another 3.5 weeks. That is when the NWO Roman Empire Beast gets a new mouth, the Antichrist sheds any pretense of being Christ, now he claims to be the only God:

And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. (Rev. 13:5 NKJ)

That equals 7 years completely disconnected from Daniel's seventy weeks.

This is how the 70 weeks break down using the Lunar Calendar which has 360 days.

1. The 7 weeks - This 49 year period is the time where the 'commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem' was given. It would take 49 years to accomplish this, and it began in 445 BC.

2. The 62 weeks - From the end point on the rebuilding of the walls, until Messiah was to be revealed, it would be 62 weeks, or 434 years.

3. The last week - This 7 year period is yet future as there is a gap between the 62 weeks and the last 7 year period when Israel rejected the Messiah and He went to the cross and then came the time of the Gentiles until that of God again turning His attention to the Jews and Israel whom He saved a remnant of the twelve tribes.

Adding the 7 weeks, or 49 years, to the 62 weeks, or 434 years, brings us to a total of exactly 483 from the time that the commandment went forth to rebuild the walls unto the very day that Jesus was paraded through the streets of Jerusalem just prior to going to the cross. Adding the 7 years to that of 483 brings us to 490 years.

Dan9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

God gave Israel 490 years to repent after their 70 year captivity in Babylon when the Medes and Persians conquered Babylon (Chaldean's)around 538 B.C. They were allowed back in the land and to rebuild the city of Jerusalem, however, they still did not repent for their sin of idol worshiping as they continue to follow Judaism and receive punishment from God as the kingdom was taken away and eventually taken over by the Roman Empire. Malachi Chapter 1-4.

The people were allowed back in the land and Israel was again formed; however, the people did receive punishment as the kingdom was taken away. Additionally, for approximately 2500 years, from 586 BC until1948, the nation was under the authority of a foreign power. Israel never again had a king from the messianic line of David to sit and rule.

Israel was given 490 years to deal with the sin of the nation and prepare for the coming of King Messiah. The prophecy would start with the command to restore and rebuild Jerusalem. Messiah, the prince, would come exactly 483 years (69 weeks) after the command was given. Then the Messiah would be cut off or killed for others. After the 69weeks, Messiah would be killed, and Jerusalem and the temple would once again be destroyed and made desolate. There would be wars and desolation's of Jerusalem for an unspecified period of time and then the end would come. This prophecy allows for the exact time for the first coming of Messiah to be determined.

Daniel separated the 70th week, the last seven years, from the previous 69weeks. The 70th week was specially separated from all the other years. This prophecy gives conclusive proof that only Jesus ofNazareth can be Israel ’s King Messiah, the Savior of mankind.

Let's be honest. We all accept the dates that fit our view of prophecy best. None of us do the actual research into ancient history. We trust the scholars, who largely disagree about everything.

Instead of basing my calculations on speculations about dates, I focus on the wording of the prophecy, and the 69th week ends with Christ's "Triumphant entry into Jerusalem" on a Donkey sometime between 30-33AD:

4 All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:
5 "Tell the daughter of Zion,`Behold, your King is coming to you, Lowly, and sitting on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.'"
6 So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them.
7 They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them.
8 And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
9 Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: "Hosanna to the Son of David!`Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!' Hosanna in the highest!" (Matt. 21:4-9 NKJ)

From BlueletterBible.org

  • Artaxerxes made a decree giving Nehemiah permission, safe passage and supplies to return to Jerusalem to rebuild the city and the walls in 445 B.C. (Nehemiah 2:1-8).
ii. Only the last of these four decrees was a command to restore and build Jerusalem. The first three each focused on the temple, not on the street or on the wall.

b. Until Messiah the Prince, there shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks: Gabriel’s message to Daniel was simple and striking. 483 years — that is, 69 units of seven years — would pass from the time of the command recorded in Nehemiah 2:1-8 until the appearance of Messiah the Prince.

...

iii. Some say the 483 years were completed at the triumphal entry of Jesus (if dated at A.D. 32). Sir Robert Anderson’s significant work The Coming Prince followed this argument in great detail.

  • Anderson, using a 360-day year (which Israel used in Daniel’s day), calculated 173,880 days from the decree to the triumphal entry, fulfilling the prophecy to the day. “It is customary for the Jews to have twelve months of 360 days each and then to insert a thirteenth month occasionally when necessary to correct the calendar.” (Walvoord)
  • The year A.D. 32 (based on Luke 3:1) for Jesus’ death is controversial (most chronologists favor A.D. 30 or 33). But recent attempts have made some case for the date: “A recent article attempts to give credence to the date of A.D. 32; cf. R.E. Showers, Grace Journal, XI (Winter, 1970), pp. 30ff. The evidence presented is worthy of notice.” (Wood)
  • “No one today is able dogmatically to declare that Sir Robert Anderson’s computations are impossible.” (Walvoord)

That means Christ was crucified in the 70th week. I interpret Dan. 9:24 as completely fulfilled at that time:

24 "Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy. (Dan. 9:24 NKJ)

Like many others, you propose a gap between the 69th and 70th week. The premise is "transgression was not finished" in the 1st century and won't be until the coming of the millennial reign of Christ. But what is forgotten, neither is "transgression finished" at the start of that kingdom:

7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison
8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea.
9 They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. (Rev. 20:7-9 NKJ)

Therefore, the "gap" theory has no support.

Classic Christianity from the days of the first writings on Daniel 9:24 put the "end of transgression" with Christ's ransom sacrifice. That's when God stopped holding our transgressions against us.

So Daniel 9:27 and John's Revelation has another "week" not part of the Seventy Weeks. Then a gap is "natural, organic. The "He" in Daniel 9:27 is the "Desolator", the antichrist denying the Father and the Son.

Adonikam is his name (Rev. 13:8; Ezr. 2:13; Neh. 7:18)

He appears "after the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled" [= The Gap]

24 "And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. (Lk. 21:24 NKJ)

27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate." (Dan. 9:27 NKJ)

That's why Paul gives him two names in 2 Thess. 2:3-4. He first appears as the "rider on the white horse" (Rev. 6:2) false Christ, but 3.5 years later disavows all religion declaring himself the "seed of Satan" (Son of Destruction) and destroys the Religious Harlot Babylon ending all worship to all that is called God.

3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,
4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
(2 Thess. 2:3-4 NKJ)

The prophecy indicated Jesus would become the Messiah in 29CE, God confirmed that with His approval. 3.5 yrs later Jesus was executed, which technically ended the law covenant, but God kept it in force till the end of the week (36 CE) most likely to reduce the stress of the changeover and to give the Jews the opportunity to become Jesus' brothers before He gave the Kingdom to a nation producing it's fruits.

I have told you many times no one, especially me, is going to sift through a lengthy post. Either break them down to certain points or no one is going to discuss with you.

I have told you many times no one, especially me, is going to sift through a lengthy post. Either break them down to certain points or no one is going to discuss with you.
The Gap theory should have its own thread. If you made one, I'd participate.

I make no dates or preconceived ideas as the word of God and history speaks for itself as I have shown in the actual research I have done over the last forty years.
Fair enough. The comment applies to others, me included. I rely on scholarship for dates, both BC and AD. Unfortunately, scholars disagree about all the dates and its impossible I sort it out.

Daniel9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

This was Ezra rebuilding the literal Temple, but also prophetic of the Spiritual Temple making it ready for Messiah to return.

Daniel gives six major events that characterize the 490 years.

1. "To finish the transgression" Israel's rejection of Messiah(Jesus) as Israel is brought to restoration at the time of the second coming.

2. "to put an end to sin" The sins of National Israel will not be forgiven until the deliver comes out of Zion and a new covenant is given to them.

3. "made reconciliation for iniquity" Life, death and Resurrection we are now reconciled through the blood of Christ as the final sacrifice

4. "to bring in everlasting righteousness" This is when the Lord Jesus Christ returns to the earth and set up His kingdom.

5."seal up the vision and prophecy" This will be the time when all prophecy is fulfilled and the Lord Jesus Christ will be Lord of lords and King of kings.

6."anoint the Most Holy" The Lord Jesus Christ will be anointed when the temple is cleansed at the end of the 2520 days of punishment when He returns.

Daniel8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. (Full 70 weeks/ 490 years which end with the return

Leviticus26 punish 7 times 360 days x 7 = 2520 Biblical time is 360 days makesa year, Numbers 14:34; Ezekiel 4:6; Daniel 4:30-32 of Christ)

Fair enough. The comment applies to others, me included. I rely on scholarship for dates, both BC and AD. Unfortunately, scholars disagree about all the dates and its impossible I sort it out.
That's why I do not accept all the teachings from all these scholars since they can't even agree. The word of God and history is always our best fit for knowledge.

God speaks to us in scripture of a 3 1/2 year tribulation period (not a seven year) as being time, times and half time which equals 1260 days= 3 ½ years or 3 ½ Times – Hebrew calendar only had 30 days foreach month and this is where you get 1260 days or 3 ½ years. (First half and second half of the 2300 days)

[Scripture reference]

Revelation12:14; Daniel 7:25; Daniel 12:7

1260days – Revelation 11:3; Revelation 12:6

42months – Revelation 11:2; Revelation 13:5

2300days – Daniel 8:13, 14

The70th week (490 prophetic years) begins with the commandment to restore and rebuild Jerusalem.

Ezra 1: 2 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

Messiah is cut-off at the crucifixion which is the 69th week (483 prophetic years). God set aside the wrath that will come in the 70thweek (490 prophetic years) and revealed the revelation of the mystery to the apostle John and we will be in that gap between the 69thweek and the 70th week until God pours out his wrath upon those who refuse to repent during the seven trumpet and seven vial judgments then will Jesus return and sends His angels out to the four corners of the earth to gather His bride to Him.

The command to rebuild Jerusalem was in 457BC. Daniel 9:25 says it took 7weeks (49 years) to rebuild. This brings us to 408BC.

Daniel says 62 weeks later (434 years) Messiah will arrive. This brings us to 27AD which is the end of week 69 and start of week 70. (408 -343 =26. Add 1 year for year “0” and you come to 27AD)

Daniel 9:26, 27 says Messiah is cut off and in the midst of week 70thJesus shall confirm the covenant (grace) and that which is determined(judged) will be that of Gods judgment of those not found written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Note1: There are different opinions on who “the people of the prince” refers to in Daniel 9:26 but the majority of scholars however do agree that the destruction of the city and the sanctuary applies to the second destruction of Jerusalem and the rebuilt sanctuary by Roman armies under Prince Titus in 70 A.D.

Note2: Remember the 70 weeks or 490 years was the time God gave His chosen nation to end their rebellion where they would then be forgiven for their transgressions. Now note that Jesus references this prophetic time period while conversing with Peter on the topic forgiveness. 70 times 7 is of course 490.

Matthew18:21 “Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Till seven times? 22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.”

For those wondering, the well known and accepted day for a year rule is correct or otherwise the entire ministry of Jesus would have only been 3.5 days instead of 3.5 years and the entire prophecy would have only lasted about 1.3 years. That would be from 457 B.C. to approximately 455 B.C. The temple and the streets and the walls of Jerusalem etc. would have had to have been rebuilt in 49 days. This would be an impossible task and it certainly did take every bit of the 49 years as one would expect.

So let’s just clarify these times again. Daniel 9:24 “Seventy weeks are determined upon your people” Seventy weeks is 70 x 7 days which is 490 prophetic days, which on the day for a year rule is 490 years.
