The warning of the second-coming

I think Christ has made it very precise or somewhat precise. In fact we nearly know the day. :lol

Whoever wishes to remain in sin...remains in sin. He's told us what and what to particularly pay attention to - the signs of His coming.

Definitely we will have no excuse and obviously a great number will be successful.

"Romans 1:16-21Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
16 For I am not ashamed of the Good News, since it is God’s powerful means of bringing salvation to everyone who keeps on trusting, to the Jew especially, but equally to the Gentile. 17 For in it is revealed how God makes people righteous in his sight; and from beginning to end it is through trust — as the Tanakh puts it, “But the person who is righteous will live his life by trust.”18 What is revealed is God’s anger from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people who in their wickedness keep suppressing the truth; 19 because what is known about God is plain to them, since God has made it plain to them. 20 For ever since the creation of the universe his invisible qualities — both his eternal power and his divine nature — have been clearly seen, because they can be understood from what he has made. Therefore, they have no excuse; 21 because, although they know who God is, they do not glorify him as God or thank him. On the contrary, they have become futile in their thinking; and their undiscerning hearts have become darkened."

Matthew 7:12-14Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
12 “Always treat others as you would like them to treat you; that sums up the teaching of the Torah and the Prophets.13 “Go in through the narrow gate; for the gate that leads to destruction is wide and the road broad, and many travel it; 14 but it is a narrow gate and a hard road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

He will come when He comes, we should not obsess about it, but then of course we would have to do away with the whole "end times" forum. I am sure no-one will be upset about that.

You're making more sense than many posters on here.

I do have the problem, on occasion.
Yeah. I keep wondering why some people think it is important to "be ready" and/or "be watching and praying" so that they "won't be caught asleep". Just live relaxed and easy for Jesus, and it shouldn't matter if there is a rapture or there isn't... and it shouldn't matter if He returns tonight or three hundred years from now... or 16,000 years from now.

Well, that is just crazy talk. What would we all have to talk about if we don't assume the sky is falling?

I'm sorry. How foolish of me. I should have known better... after all God gave us brains precisely so we could worry and fret.

What does this Parable mean to you?
Matthew 25:1-13
The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins
25 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
6 “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming;[
a] go out to meet him!’ 7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.
11 “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ 12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’
13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour[

For me, when it comes to end times, it is important to prepare your heart and mind as though He could come back at any time, yet live and plan your life as though it won't happen til after you are gone. Yes, we are to be aware of what is going on around us, but not to obsess about the things we do not have any control over.

I think we have misunderstood the OP. Christ being such a loving One has made it such that we won't be taken by surprise when He would arrive. He's told us a lot of things we should watch out for

Great scripture Sister.

We are warned that in the last days there would be scoffers saying...

3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation." 2 Peter 3:3-4

There'a a lot of scriptures and prophecies about when the Messiah will come (the first time, to be crucified), but there are hundreds more scriptures about his second coming. While I do agree with Willie and Knotical about obsessing over it...I think that it is important enough to meditate about every day, and to study about it. To be ready. Scripture tells us to do this.

Be watchful and looking for Him to come. There may be a point to where it is over the top and perhaps a boderline obsession, but on the other hand, I don't want to be too casual about it. He'll come when He comes? Eh, I don't know about that.

It's like a family member is about to arrive that you haven't seen in a long time and love them dearly. They'll come when when they come? Huh uh. I love Him and will be looking out the window for Him.

Consider our life is but a vapor in time. Not long brothers and sisters. If feeling a little bit of passionate agape love & expectation makes me some kind of Jesus freak to be looked down upon, then so be it. Come Lord Jesus! :sohappy:sohappy

36"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. - Matt 24:6

Matt 24v 44: For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will. 45"Who then is the faithful and sensible slave whom his master put in charge of his household to give them their food at the proper time?Blessed is that slave whom his master finds so doing when he comes. 47"Truly I say to you that he will put him in charge of all his possessions.

We don't know when He will return. We have been told the way He would like to find us living our lives when He does return.

We should live as if we know that the Lord will return tomorrow. He will return in the twinkling of an eye and be here. If you knew the Lord was coming tomorrow, would you live differently today? I bet you would. If you could go witness to a person and lead them to the Lord today, then it would increase His harvest and give Him more glory and love forevermore. One more voice singing unto the Lord in the choir every day...everything!
