The Witching Season

Halloween is in a few weeks. How many Christians are truly against it? On the other hand, there are some Christians who don't think anything is wrong with it. It is so unfortunate that many don't know the true dangers of it. So many think it is just pure fun like going to Halloween parties, bobbing for apples, bonfires etc. Yes, it is a trick and certainly those will have a treat. When people ask me, what are you wearing for Halloween, I tell them, I don't celebrate the devil's holiday. They look at me like I am crazy. It is much more intense than what I am conveying. I have a friend who has a powerful testimony of how she was part of a coven. Many years later, she became a Christian! Years ago, I was fired because I didn't participate whatsoever. As as result, I was mocked and I found out the person who did this, almost lost her life and her baby ended up premature. May the Lord continue to put a hedge of protection around us.

Romans 8:31
“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”

Halloween's okay.
Isn't halloween "All Saint's Evening". preceding 'All Saint's Day" November 1st?
It seems the devil took our holy saint's day and made it into something evil.
Why give the devil a foot hold in our lives?
I say take it back and make it a holy day again.
Why should we cede anything to him?
Are we that weak?
Well, I'm not.

As a kid we enjoyed halloween a lot. fun goofy kids stuff.... . 60 years ago things were a lot different....

when my kids were trick or treat age is when the poison candy thing hit big time so that was out
living 20 years ,80-90, in a part of the state where witches gathered for the winter and summer solstice and halloween it lost more of its childhood appeal ..
holidays are what we make them they are not holy or unholy... they are just days to me anyway

same post at both halloween threads ... :)

Greetings,
I just wanted to point out some of the blessings of Halloween.
The Candy makers get to keep people employed..
The Dentist's payroll gets made a little later...
Pumpkin pie season is upon us. :)
And most importantly, the children of the neighborhood come to your door to get candy, gospel tracts, and prayer. :)

We don't do Halloween. Mainly because my wife doesn't like it.
In Scotland where is was bought up it is a big thing. We knocked on doors said trick or treat. Most times I got a treat.
To be honest I don't think at the time it was ever seen as demonic or evil. It was just an excuse for kids to get treats.
I don't ever recall seeing houses set up with all the scary stuff, i.e. Skeletons, or those who opened doors dressed as ghosts and the alike.

My wife was bought up in a church that was strict and Halloween was seen as evil and had demonic influences.
Whilst I don't have an issue with it my wife does so I have gone along with her thoughts about it. We shut the door and put a note on the door asking people not to knock. Our church does an alternative Halloween party for kids which my wife heads up.

It has never ever crossed my/our mind to give gospel tracts and offer prayer. That's an eye opener.
Our church has lots of programmes going on to reach the community and we have literature that goes with it.

Having seen your post I'm going to do the same you do.
What an eye opener, thanks for your post

You'll be wanting to hand out treats also then.
Make your home a nice safe stop for the children. We pray for all of them that come to the door. Safety and salvation, are at the top of the list. I hadn't thought about adking them, or even telling them that we are praying for them.
