Tick Tock Hey! Who stole my Clock?

On all my Window programs I’ve always had a small clock off to the side. Its always been so convenient whatever I’m doing on the computer. Heck even a Husband can now make it on time to dinner while his wife is cooking. He can catch his favorite sport by the very minute. . Lets face it this little clock has saved us time.

But Windows 7 has proven the clock is not our friend after all. Windows 7 did not want it because some twisted minded computer genius figured out somehow how to use the computer clocks to hack inside on personal files and other things. My guess is because the clock is universal one may be able to come in and not even know where they come from. That’s nice Windows 7 is blocking them. But there is a big problem.. where is our clock?

That is the problem we have at home with Windows 7 having no clock. We tried to install clock gadget. We got a noticed this clock may have a lot of virus issues. So for some reason clock gadget did not appear to to be safe either. Now there is also Clockwise. It has a big clock and time zones. But this thing is kind of big and when tryomg to keep in miniature view it does not stay on the desktop. It hogs the screen. This would be like wearing a wall clock around your neck. Your going to tell time but taking up too much space. So here is my questions???

If there is no computer clock and if clock gadgets according to Windows 7 danger of picking up viruses and if Clockwise is too big to use as a clock what other options is there? What kind of clock can be installed and put at the bottom or the side on the pc enough keeping it visible at all times where you can always see this clock on of course regular custom mode. I like a little computer clock and miss seeing it off to the bottom. Does anyone have an answer where I can get such a small clock to install on my pc. . I’m not very good at computers, names of sites or any kind of secret codes or anything. . I’m just a basic user posting on forums reading Bible and News online but at this time not knowing when I do these things. Who can help me find a portable pc screen clock. Thanks for your help.

By the way if none of us can figure this out lets ask the ten year old on the game console game system. Kids today so fast learning about computers. I bet this would be easier for this little genius to find a clock than to beat the Samurai kung fu game Journey adventure. I’m just kidding really. It's just kids often belong to friends that know all kinds of secrets video games and computers not told to us adults. Remember as being kids keeping secrets from them. In our case decades ago no computers at home hiding a secret? Don’t shoot water guns in the house. That was the most top secret in those days.

Sorry to get off topic. Can anyone help find me a clock to use on the the screen off to the side?

This is what the site has to say as far as not being able to have the gadgets clock anymore...

Gadgets have been discontinued
Gadgets are no longer available on our website because the Windows Sidebar platform in Windows 7 and Windows Vista has serious vulnerabilities. Microsoft has retired the feature in newer releases of Windows. Gadgets could be exploited to harm your computer, access your computer's files, show you objectionable content, or change their behavior at any time. An attacker could even use a gadget to take complete control of your PC. If you're concerned about the safety of gadgets you’ve downloaded, find out more about gadgets and steps you can take to protect your PC.

I'm just trying to find another clock to replace this old one that either sits in the bottom of the task bar or in the upper corner of the windows screen.

That's weird. I'm still running windows 7 and I have my clock like WIP pointed out. It works fine. ?? So they can break into my computer through it now? Doesn't surprise me but I'm a pretty boring fellow so who cares really, lol.

Windows again! :rolleyes

I have a solution -- this won't get a virus:

:lol

Hang this next to your computer.

I've never heard of this. Still have the gadgets on my desktop computer that is running Windows 7.

Also, as WIP pointed out, don't you still have the time in your task bar?

They must have just done this because I just had a rebuild and upgrade to my computer a month ago which included a new motherboard and brand new installation of Win 7, completely updated, and it still has the clock on the taskbar.

Please refer again to post #7..
This shows why there is no gadgets available for the pc. Also there is no taskbar clock that is on this pc either.
I don't know why but I'm trying to get another clock that will stay on the desktop.

I'm not positive where to get one that is safe that it won't have vulnerabilities.

So I'm asking does anyone know where to get such a clock?

Well, OK then. There is a setting somewhere that displays the clock and I was trying to look for it for you, but I guess that's not what you're looking for. You must have a different Windows 7 than the rest of us.

WordsintoHarmony , when you go into your control panel is there no longer an option for "Clock, Language, and Region?"

There should be an option in there to enable the clock gadget.
