The first of Tishri, or sundown on the night of September 4 will largely go unnoticed on most of Christianity's calendar. Which is unfortunate because that is the day sometime in the future when Jesus will come again. If one wonders why there are so many horn blasts in the bible, maybe some of them may have to do with a Feast of Trumpets occurence?

Just as the Spring Feasts (Passover, Unleavened Bread, First Fruits, Pentecost) were fulfilled to the day, so will the Fall Feasts (Feast of Trumpets, Day of Atonement, Succot) to signify God's completed plan of redemption and restoration.

If you believe the Feasts are a Jew thing, remember in Leviticus 23 who God said those feast days belong to. It's a God thing, not a religion thing. One cannot study prophecy and hope to have any understanding of it without understanding the Feasts, Spring and Fall. So take some time to learn about them and discover the joy in celebrating the day when Jesus will return.

Well, that is the thing, Christianity has been so far removed from the Feast Days of the Lord, it is truly an eye opening statement when somebody says Jesus will return on that day sometime in the future. If prophecy teachers want to do themselves a favor, they would study and understand the prophecy in the Feast Days, and educate the masses about what each day represents. That has been lost, and it has now been refound and beginning to be understood and shared. Why should it be a surprise on what day Jesus will return? On what day did Jesus die? Rise again? John 1:29 and John 1:36 John is proclaiming the Passover Lamb. So for those who understood Passover, would have quickly understood what Jesus was going to accomplish.

Some people, myself included, feel that we should use that method for determining the dates of the festivals. The new moon won't be visible from Israel until next Saturday evening (Sep. 7), which means that the Feast of Trumpets will be from sundown next Saturday to sundown Sunday. Some others believe that the moon doesn't have to be visible from Israel, but a sighting anywhere would mark the beginning of a new month. The moon will be visible in parts of the southern hemisphere on Friday evening, putting the Feast of Trumpets from Friday evening to Saturday evening. Maybe this confusion is one of the reasons the Bible says nobody knows the day or the hour, people won't know which calendar to use.

Yes the new moon moves around in the Gregorian calendar and the Feast Days change accordingly to that calendar. And the calendar we have put out by the Messianic Times has the new moon sighted on September 5. Calendar disputes I don't understand admittedly, but within our body of believers, we are taking the time tonight to celebrate. I think when we get love, mercy and justice correct, God will reveal to us the correct calendar and interpretation of days. Till then, let's do the best we can with what we got without wrangling over the "correct" day as each side can make a solid point for each.

I will correct my statement to on this Feast, the Feast of Trumpets, or Yom Teruah is when he will return. Only the Father knows which day that will be. That is why it was celebrated as a two day Feast. But he will return on this Feast day.

There are a number of groups that look for the new moon each month and check the barley in the spring. The one I get my information from is a group of Karaite Jews. Karaites are different from Orthodox Jews in that they don't believe in the oral law, but only what is actually in the Torah. They are pretty much modern day Sadduces, while Orthodox Jews are basically Pharisees. They aren't Christians and I don't follow their teachings, but they do (in my opinion) celebrate the feasts on the correct dates, so I use their info on when they are. I don't know if I'm allowed to post a link, since they are a different religion, but I could PM it to anybody who wants it.
