[__ Science __ ] Two Things Presidential Voting Is Not

That was a well written article imo.
Considering Trump's flaws... Too many to list... This sums it up.

Instead, voting is the deliberate act of preferring a candidate who supports a set of policies over an alternative set of policies. To illustrate this approach, I submit two things voting is not.

yes the policies are the most important issue

the problem with policies is that often politicians don't keep their policy promises

one reason potus is so popular is because he kept more of his promises than any other - his personal flaws are debatable due to fake news agendas but his ability to protect the country he loves and usa citizens is outstanding and not seen in this potency since i don't know when

I agree. I've never been a big fan of everything he's said, but his results stand on their own.

What does it mean to vote for a US president, and why should a Christian vote?
Because you are commanded to obey those set above you. In America, that is the U.S. Constitution, the supreme law of the land. It is your responsibility to vote, because that is how the system works.

Whether or not you support our current president, you have a responsibility to vote your choice.

The United States is a "Democratic Republic."
When we vote, we are voting for someone to represent us in government. If a candidate is immoral and "has too many flaws to list" and a Christian decides that this person best represents them, isn't there something wrong there?

I will not be voting in US because I live in the UK, so I am not supporting any candidate. One thing I came to realize is that everyone has too many flaws when another person takes a microscope on that person's life. Every politician has flaws. It is just that some politicians's flaws are broadcast from the rooftop, while others are never mentioned. It is all about who you like and why you like them. For me, I go with policies and who will get things done compared to their opposition party.

They are all immoral With too many flaws.

I find this passage useful in voting:

Jeremiah 29:7 (ESV)
But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.

In this verse, God was commanding the exiled Jews in Babylon. Babylon was not a righteous nation, but nonetheless the Jews were to seek its welfare.

All things considered, I vote in such a way as I believe will be best for the United States. This does mean the policy goals of a candidate are more important to me than a personality.

reason com did a great article on voting best line at the end ,turn it off and do,something useful.

I,learned no,matter who, wins ,the elitist will still be around ,the rich will pay a bit more or less and the middle class won't,gain or loss much .not, that,we can't,go south but well beat the debt clock time table ,either that matters or not ,taxation at this point is all about control at the national level because it funds little bills passed with trillions in spending .

the bankers will still be,predatory ,the govt programs will never cover it all .

They are all immoral With too many flaws.
Then why do Christians get into bed with them? Particularly this one, (who does things that I won't even mention)

And they are proud of it?
And they accuse people of not even being Christian if they don't also get into bed with this one?
They claim (with their votes) that this person best represents them. I believe them. They become just like him.
It is no wonder that the Bible says "Bad company corrupts good character." We are seeing it happen.
It is shameful.

Christians have no other choice. The question is why are Christians not standing for national leadership in their country? If they want a perfect person, they have to put forward someone who is flawless.

It's how "best represents" is defined. Are you demanding that the president's personality best represents your personality? Or the president's moral character best represents your ideals? Is this what you think the vote is about? If so, then the media and popular culture has done it's job well on you.

On the other hand, if the platform (the policies) better represents what you believe to be right, as opposed to the platform of the other candidate, this is what you end up voting for, whether you understand it or not. When you cast a vote, you are voting for the policies of that candidate.

yes their is ,voting is a not a mandate .
if its choice is a democrat and as bad Republican ,do I still vote especially when I can't write in .

I'm libertarian in many ways ,I notice things .I,filed bankruptcy,I'm already getting letters to get new credit cards ,the filing and approval not a year ago.sorry the banks simply want you in debt forever ,medicine ? I filed because if medical expenses.trump has eliminated the legality of preexisting conditions so they will simply work around that and no improvement ,pay more in insurance or less coverage. theirs no,solutions only, trade offs. taxes? the irs can end the bankruptcy of,mine if I,owe and, don't,pay,in,a timely, manner ,oh,and,I,and if I work, too, much and,my.wife on disability, she, gets less as I have to pay more in taxes.

some choices ,democrats increase taxation ,costs ,republicans seldom cut spending and also fix things .

Wait, What?
Christians have no choice but to get in bed with Donald Trump?
Do you know what "the walk of shame" is?

Well, if you think Trump represents you, then whatever.

Christians have no choice but to get in bed with whoever they feel have the best policies for their country. Is does not matter who that person is? No politician is flawless, neither is anyone. As I said, they can either step up themselves and run for leadership or choose a flawless person if they find one.

TimothyW you may not like Trump and that is your right. Some people do for reasons best known to themselves. As a Christian I pray for God to give America a president who will serve its people and will do the best for them, according to his plan. I personally do not care who is their president, as long as it is within God's plan. I believe that is what you want, and not just trying to recruit people for your choice or against another party.
