Understanding The Principles Of Deliverance
Seven steps towards a Spirit led walk
Overview

I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths.
When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, and when you run, you will not stumble. Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; Keep her, for she is your life.
Proverbs 4:11-13

  • Each walk begins with the first step.

Step one: Guarding ourselves - understanding the point of access

Step two: Cleansing ourselves - understanding unforgiveness

Step three: Consecrating ourselves I - understanding strongholds
Disconnecting from the sights and sounds of this world

Step four: Consecrating ourselves II - understanding ungodly soul ties
Disconnecting from ungodly relationships

Step five: Consecrating ourselves III – understanding accursed objects
Disconnecting our home from spiritual oppression

Step six: Delivering ourselves – understanding iniquities
Recognizing the way of idolatry

Step seven: Spirit Led Habits – understanding sowing to the spirit
Renouncing specific habits of idolatry

These are foundational steps that are designed to bring each person into a deeper understanding of the principles of deliverance. Each step is to be applied to our lives with the motive of entering a lifestyle that is truly surrendered the Holy Spirit.

Understanding these steps is to realize that freedom is something we fight for to obtain, as well as something we fight for to maintain.

Remember, the children of Israel were given the promised land by God, but they only possessed the land that they fought for.

Understanding who we are in Christ, and the authority He has given us over the powers of darkness is crucial.

Our Authority in Christ

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them;

they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Mark 16:15-18

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you,
but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven
. Luke 10:19-20

But as many as received him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God,
even to them that believe on his name: John 1:12

Unclean spirits seek to hinder this process of becoming sons of God. In many cases they have the legal right to influence us because of sin. We will learn more about this in the first step.

Becoming sons of God, the way Jesus is a Son of God is a process; a process of becoming.

Scripture refers to this as the work of transformation; of being conformed to the image of God's Son.

By understanding this process, and the things that hinder this work of transformation, we are renewing our minds
to these valuable truths.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2

In the parable of the Sower, Jesus emphasized the key element of understanding. Those who have a heart to understand, were those who would produce fruit, some thirty, some sixty, and some a hundred fold.

As born again Christians each of us has the power and authority to become full stature sons of God, so that
we walk as He walked, and do the things He did. The Holy Spirit in us is the One who teaches all things.

But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. 1 John 2:27

If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. John 14:15-17

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. John 16:13

In step one we will learn the point of access the enemy has, to gain a legal right to access us, in order to influence us into deception and destruction.
