Why do you think some men feel that they need to be violent to women?

Insecure is one and men of the old generation were taught that is how you keep them in place, also growing up where your dad did that to your mom. Then the male children grow up thinking that is how you control them along with other factors.

That kind of thing seemed to be common on my father's side of the family, from what I'm told. Well, he ended up in an affair and eventually my parents divorced.

My dad had 3 outside kids on my mother, he use to take me with him to see his other women when I was little and tell me not to tell my mother, and I never did. So I thought this is how it is supposed to go. My dad had a lot of women, and I followed in his footsteps. My dad is old now and those days are long gone.

Oh boy not a good influence for teaching character,morals and values at all.My x SIL was married to this guy.He was having all kind of affairs that she did not know about.One day one of the women called her and said "You know I have had a child with your husband".They divorced but when their son was older he had gone to a get together and met all kinds of brothers and sister he did not even know he had.

So perhaps the title of this thread should simply be Domestic Violence.
The root cause is the sinful nature of mankind, but external factors as well as internal factors all come into play. The solution is a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, where sinners repent of these sins, and obey the Law of Christ, which is agape love.

I don't get why about treating humans in general with respect is such a hard concept for people to understand. But then, I suppose I underestimate the damage this fallen world has done. It can be hard to understand why people act the way they do when I've grown up in a first world country and a family that taught me to treat others as I'd want to be treated.
