Ways To Improve

Via a phone call this morning StoveBolts and I were discussing how the quarantine guidelines were not well thought out.

One is "optional" medical care.
People who should get something checked out early (like lumps or something else) are putting it off until they can get in to see the doctor.

Then the closing of all public parks when no one can go to school or work... even if they don't have playground equipment.

The closing of gyms and exercise rooms... wiping down facilities and wearing masks isn't a leap of logic.

Then...the reopening of the quarantine is also just as brainless.
We seem to be allowing restaurants to open so long as social distancing and mandatory mask wearing guidelines are being followed...how am I supposed to eat or drink while wearing a mask?

Then the quarantines are being lifted without any substantive change in circumstances. Face masks, sanitizer, toilet paper, Covid-19 preventatives or cures still are not available. But the quarantines are partially lifting? Why?

What did we do the past month of April for? (Not sure that NY is going to recover).

Does anyone have a clue as to what they are doing and why?
Is money more important than our elderly population?

I'm ok with quarantine when needed but I really don't understand why they did things the way they did.

I drove past 2 different Home Depot stores to get pharmaceuticals for my wife...both parking lots are filled to capacity. Same with the grocery stores.
These are the only places to go. (I think that there's a reason for this)

I've outlined a few things that I find kinda wrong with how things are being done...

What do you think?

An accidental radioactive contamination on long island might cure NYC,but,well .less idiot drivers in my,state .

Man that's gotta be done .

Lunacy drinking beer is essential.
Arresting quarantine or rule breakers ,letting felons out becAuse of vivid
Stimulus money only,to be used to by non,essential junk .yes a friend in ups tells of this .

I haven't got the slightest idea but that seems way more than a little ridiculous to me.

That mask won't suit you April. Are there any better ones?

Lol, that joke had a double meaning since it's a movie about a mask and Stanley Ipkess AKA The Mask played by Jim Carey was saying "somebody stop me!" and that's how I feel when it comes to watching other people eat while not being able to eat myself. I sort of want to watch that movie now lol :lol

The primary reason for the business closures and stay at home orders was not to prevent people from getting the virus. It was to slow down the rate at which the virus spreads so that our healthcare system could have opportunity to ramp up its ability to handle the projected load. A couple things have taken place since March when all of this was put into place.

  • The actual rate of both hospitalizations and death have progressed far below even the best case scenario initially projected. Therefore, the actual need for medical beds and equipment to handle the projected hospitalizations is not as severe as originally expected which frees up hospital beds and equipment to treat the seriously ill.
  • The production of the equipment needed to treat the seriously ill has been ramped up so more of this equipment is now available than before the pandemic.
  • Facilities throughout the country have been converted or setup for temporary treatment facilities thereby increasing the capacity of our healthcare system to treat the seriously ill.
  • Our healthcare systems have been required to stop elective procedures including surgeries and this too frees up beds and equipment to treat the seriously ill.
  • Recent testing shows a growing evidence that a large percentage of the population has already been infected and now have the antibodies and likely no longer contagious.
  • Those infected are primarily contained to specific higher population hot spots rather than the virus spreading generally and equally throughout the entire country. This is typical of any virus as it spreads much easier where there are people to spread to. This is an example of why our own DNR will frown upon the use of deer feeders. They promote the spread of disease and viruses throughout the herd.
  • Testing capability, volume, and speed has increased considerably providing much more detailed data of the spread of the virus than there was 6 weeks ago.
  • The number of reported new cases according to CDC has pretty much flat-lined for the past three weeks indicating a flattening of the curve, which is exactly what we have been waiting for.
It is irresponsible and unrealistic to expect to wait until the virus is eradicated. Assuming it would be possible, which I highly doubt, we would have to continue our stay at home orders for years to come. We would not be able to afford that and it would send our world into chaos and who knows what the outcome of that would be?

Our best hope is for herd immunity. In other words, the more people that have developed the antibodies in their immune system, either by direct infection or vaccination, the more chance we have of controlling the spread of the virus.

Disclaimer: It's not 100% concluded whether we can develop an immunity to this virus BUT with coronaviruses in general so far, it is likely. This is why this is our best hope. If not, then we have little hope of a vaccine as well. So then what? We pull back into our shells and live our lives in fear?

So, the virus hasn't proved to spread as fast as originally thought. The new infections curve has been flattening toward our goal. Our healthcare systems have been ramped up in multiple ways to be more prepared to handle the forthcoming infections. More people are showing antibodies and therefore a fair chance of immunity providing a defensive wall. We know where the primary hotspots are so it is feasible that other cooler areas could begin to open their economies with limitations in order to help move our economy forward so we can afford to continue this fight.

Just my $.02.

“Teach me Your Way!
“Help me to walk aright,
“More by Faith, less by sight,
“Lead me with Heavenly Light;
“Teach me Your Way!”

“When I am sad at heart,
“Teach me Your Way!
“When earthly joys depart,
“Teach me Your Way!
“In hours of loneliness,

“Through sorrow, toil and pain,
“Make You my pathway plain;
“Teach me Your Way!”

“Long as my life shall last;
“Teach me Your Way!
“Wherever my lot be cast;
“Teach me Your Way!
“Until the race is run,
“Until the journey’s done,
“Until the Crown is won;
“Teach me Your Way!”

Human nature 101....
There's always that one guy who you get to do all the traveling in your company...when he went to China or Europe he got sick.

And airports spread plague. Just like ships used to spread bubonic plague. There was nothing in place for biological security even though there are now millions of TSA workers. (What a waste)
Bombs, knives and full tubes of toothpaste aren't the only thing people bring on planes.

Travel bans from Europe and everywhere but China was a bad idea. Everyone was already sick and the virus got loose.

In New York City the Mayor and Governor are idiots...they didn't shut down the subways and busses soon enough and now they got a big mess... actually they were so much political creatures that just because the president suggested it they opposed it and now they have half to a third of the cases in America.
Maryland is hoarding supplies from our Federal Government and Boston is sicker than they can figure out because the Feds took their testing supplies. (Which is why Maryland is hoarding)

No matter what the situation is...no matter how dangerous...there are going to be Darwin Award winners. Ingesting fish tank cleaner, bleach, and other disinfectants and not following quarantine guidelines even though you are sick is going to be a thing.

Tagging those individuals who do such things with a GPS warning device is probably a good idea for the rest of us so we know that we are dealing with an idiot.

Here's a trailer for that movie I was talking about for those of you who don't know. Can you imagine if this movie was being remade today? Instead of,.. "sssomebody ssstop mae!!" you would have,.. "sssomebody's cccoughing!!" That would be the shortest movie ever because then instead of robbing banks and dancing through the streets with police officers Stanley would just have to stay home. :lol

(Lol, I just had to add these scenes for giggles. :lol)

Oh yeah and btw, I'm in no way suggesting that the things he did in the movie were good, it just wouldn't be much of a movie if that were really the case. LOL (Actually watching it right now as well. XD!)

I don't like this quarantine at all. I want things to reopen again. We may never know why it is being handled the way it is. It is certainly new to me to see society function this way.

What I am noticing is people and the economy as a whole are suffering from the quarantine. Some businesses have permanently shut their doors. We are entering a type of recession and the longer we wait to reopen, the longer it takes for the economy to recover.

Most people with non-corona related health issues are being pushed aside as hospitals stopped elective surgeries. A coworker of my husband has a bad nerve issue in one arm that causes her a lot of pain and it did need surgery, but she has had to wait 2 months before getting an appointment. She is finally scheduled this month. Also, a 4 month old baby with a stomach tumor the size of an orange has had to wait due to hospital closures in Mexico City, MX. I think they are finally getting treatment this week. Some of these elective surgery closures are causing some a lot of pain.

Many jobs, you show up with a fever, you cannot return for 72hours - 2 weeks depending on employer. However, sick kids at my husband's work (that were supposed to stay home) have us sick and I suppose in a few days we will find out if it is corona or not.

An illness is going to run it's course some how. It will eventually slow down. Sadly, people will get sick and some die. There isn't anything we can do, really, to stop it 100%.

Our stay at home is extended until the 15th, and they are hoping to slowly open businesses in a week or two.

People are still getting this, but how long can the economy stop working to accommodate this?
