What encouraging encounters of community have you had?

TOS friendly reminder:

Discussion of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) is also limited and will only be allowed in Christian Talk & Advice, and/or the Bible Study forum. We understand the need to discuss LGBT issues, and to provide support for those struggling with such issues. This restriction is in place because experience has taught us that many are unable to debate this in a Godly manner, or and without promoting sin in one form or another. We do welcome posts for support or prayer, or sincere Biblical discussion

I know of several ministries by churches in my area, that help provide things to people who need it--one provides food (and the people involved in this attend my church), another provides clothing, etc. Another ministry is for boys growing up without a fatherly influence. I also know some people who have gone on missions trips--some people in my church are planning one sometime in the near future. (Although those who plan to go need to pay their own way.)

A couple of years back my family was in bad shape financially, and the people at the radio station for this Bible study I attend were able to find some ministries to help us when our foodstamps were cut down. They tried to help some personally, too.
One thing I love about church is it kinda feels like an extended family. Recently someone in my church bought themselves a house and after service one evening lots of us went and prayed over his house.
The youth group in my church has at times helped people out by going and doing yardwork for them.
