Bible Study What is your God like ?

twinc

Member
is your God like the Christian airy fairy unknown God or the macho male God of most other religions or like the female/mother God of Jesus Christ as at Lk.13:34-35 - twinc

My God is the sovereign and omnipotent God of all creation full of mercy and grace that through His longsuffering and patience would that none should perish, but have eternal life with Him, 2Peter 3:9. God's grace pardons us as His mercy loves us and forgives all who will repent and turn back to Him.

It appears you are attempting to merge the thoughts of Jesus being physically born as a man with what the Apostle Paul spoke on in Galatians where he refers as Israel being his mother as it were.
Gal 1:14 And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.
Gal 1:15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,

I'm not certain but are you also referring to the religion of Nimrod, Semiramis, and Tammuz?

it would have been quite a common experience then but not so much now as at Lk.13:34-35 to see the mother hen launch herself upwards to meet the downward swoop pf the eagle/hawk to scatter and deprive her chicks of life as guaranteed under the shelter of her wings - with wings unfurled she would also confront snake and/or cat etc - wincam

I agree twinc with your thinking. God's protection of His Saints, seems to me, were more active in the Old Covenant, and during the first century Church of Jesus Christ, than now. The Church was as pure then as possible. It didn't take Satan long to raise up Ananias and wife to introduce deception into that early flock. Just like your mother hen, Jesus dealt a death blow to those two, from scattering the chicks.
