What Will the Millennium Be Like?/

Will the Millennium be a time of chaos and emptiness, with
no life on earth? Or will the earth become a utopian paradise?
What will the earth be like when Christ comes, and after He
Returns?

What does the Bible say about the Millennium?

The word “millennium” is not found in the Bible, but it means “one thousand years.” What will the earth be like for a thousand years after Christ arrives to judge mankind? The Scriptures are actually quite clear on this subject.
According to the prophets Micah and Isaiah, the millennium will be a time of unfettered joy and peace, where the nations will dwell in peace and safety, and the law of God will go forth from Jerusalem. “And it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains [over the nations], and shall be exalted above the hills [smaller nations]; and peoples shall flow to it.

MANY NATIONS shall come and say, ‘Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths.’ For out of Zion the LAW shall go forth, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem” (Micah 4:1-4; see also Isaiah 2:1-4).

After the rapture of the church, after the seven-year long tribulation, after the war of Armageddon and the resurrection of the saints, Jesus will rule on the earth for one thousand years (Revelation 20:4-6). The purpose of the Millennial Kingdom is to establish Christ as King in Jerusalem, sitting on the throne of David (Luke 1:32-33) and to fulfill the promises God has made to Israel. They will bless the other nations, fulfilling the Abrahamic covenant (Genesis 12:1-3). They will take control of the promised geographical borders, fulfilling the Palestinian covenant (Deuteronomy 30:1-10). And they will experience forgiveness and a renewed relationship with God, fulfilling the Davidic covenant (2 Samuel 7:10-13).

The Millennial Kingdom will give us a taste of what life would have been if Adam and Eve had not sinned. Jesus will be the King and Judge (Isaiah 2:4;11:3-4). Animals will live in peace with each other and with humans (Isaiah 11:6-9), and believers will worship God at the new Temple (Isaiah 2:2-3;Ezekiel 40:1-46:24).

Luk 11:14 And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered.
Luk 11:15 But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils.
Luk 11:16 And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.
Luk 11:17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.
Luk 11:18 If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.
Luk 11:19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.
Luk 11:20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.

What does the Bible say about the Millennium?

The Book of Revelation
At that time, the apostle John writes in the book of Revelation, the earth will be ruled by Christ and the resurrected saints, who will serve Him as kings and priests around the world. John declares, “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth” (Rev.5:9-10).

To the church of God in Thyatira, Christ says, “And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations—‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron; they shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessels’—as I also have received from My Father; and I will give him the morning star” (Rev.2:26-28).

Does this sound like a desolate earth?
John also says in Revelation, “And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and REIGNED WITH CHRIST FOR A THOUSAND YEARS” – which is the “MILLENNIUM” (Rev.20:4).
It seems very plain that the earth will not be a desolation for a thousand years after Christ returns! It will be filled with nations, peoples, and cities!

Old Testament Prophecies
Christ will rule the whole world and every nation will serve and obey Him. Says the prophet Zechariah, “Then the LORD will go forth and fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle. And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. . . . Thus the LORD my God will come, and all the SAINTS with You” (Zech.14:3-5).
“And in that day it shall be that living waters shall flow from Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea and half of them toward the western sea; in both summer and winter it shall occur. And the LORD shall be King over all the earth. In that day it shall be—‘The LORD is one,’ and His name one” (Zech.14:8-9).

What will the earth be like, then? Zechariah continues, “All the land shall be turned into a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be raised up and inhabited in her place from Benjamin’s Gate to the place of the First Gate and the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the king’s winepresses. The people shall dwell in it; and no longer shall there be utter destruction, but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited” (Zech.14:10-11).
Clearly, the earth will not be in utter destruction. Jerusalem will be safely populated and prospered.

At that time, there will be many nations left on the earth. Zechariah records, “And it shall come to pass that EVERYONE WHO IS LEFT of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, on them there will be no rain. If the family of Egypt will not come up and enter in, they shall have no rain; they shall receive the plague with which the LORD strikes the NATIONS who do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles” (Zech.14:16-19).

Plainly, all the nations will come up to Jerusalem to observe the Feast of Tabernacles, after Christ returns to set up His Kingdom – or else they will be plagued with drought and disease plagues. Needless to say, they will soon learn their lesson!

Drought and disease plagues in the millenium based on how you respond to the Kingship of Jesus. Sounds just like today!

As you quoted, "Many nations, shall come and say"
It doesn't say "All nations, shall come and say"

Question: "In the last days, will everyone need to go to Jerusalem to worship God (Micah 4:2)?"

Answer:
Micah 4:2contains an interesting prophecy that people from around the world will come to Jerusalem to learn about God. It reads, “Many nations shall come, and say: ‘Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.’” Based on this verse, many have wondered if everyone will need to go to Jerusalem to worship God in the last days.

It is important to first identify when this prophecy will be fulfilled. When the Old Testament prophets speak of “the last days” (e.g.,Micah 4:1), they usually refer to the tribulation period or the millennium (Deuteronomy 4:30;Ezekiel 38:16;Daniel 2:28;10:14;Hosea 3:5). InMicah 4, the prophet shifts from the theme of judgment in the previous chapter to a theme of future blessing in Jerusalem when God Himself will rule (Micah 4:3). This would correspond with themillennial kingdom, during which the Messiah reigns from His throne in Jerusalem.

Micah 4:2teaches that, during the millennium, people from many nations will come to “the mountain of the Lord”—a reference to Zion, or Jerusalem. People from all over the world will come to the temple (“the house of the God of Jacob”) to learn God’s Law and obey it.

The fact that people from every nation come to Jerusalem does not mean that everyonemusttravel to Jerusalem during the millennium. Most likely, people will be able to worship the Lord from anywhere in the world: “The earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea” (Isaiah 11:9).

To the Jewish people who saw themselves as God’s only people, the mention of people from many nations coming to the temple is significant. God had always made Himself known to people of all backgrounds who turned to Him (such as the Ninevites who repented inJonah 3), but He was still the “Holy One of Israel” (Isaiah 12:6). Micah’s prophecy highlights the fact that the millennial kingdom will consist of people of many cultures, races, and nationalities serving the King. The prediction foreshadows the Great Commission of Jesus Christ to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20).

Some say that today’s interest in Holy Land tours fulfillsMicah 4:2. While a visit to Jerusalem can be an enriching and faith-building experience for believers, it does not fulfill Micah’s prophecy. It will take more than tourists and travel agents to bring in the millennium. It will take the Lord Himself coming in power and great glory (Luke 21:27) to establish His throne, comfort His people (Isaiah 51:3), and usher in worldwide peace (Micah 4:3).

"to bring in the millennium. It will take the Lord Himself coming in power and great glory (Luke 21:27) to establish His throne, comfort His people (Isaiah 51:3), and usher in worldwide peace (Micah 4:3)." from gotquestions.org

Someone, I think maybe Malachi, said that His Kingdom has not yet been established and that it could not happen until all His enemies have been put under His feet.
But this statement says that His Kingdom is established during the millennium. But how can that be because His enemy satan will still be loosed, not all people in the millennium are believers and are therefore, still His enemies?
These two statements do not agree. :shrug

Satan will be bound until the very last of the 1000 year Millennium and then he will be let loose to run havoc. At the very first of the Millennium only believers will enter. But they will be human. They will be given in marriage and have children.I am thinking some of those off spring will be unbelievers.

Don't feel like I am asking you to try to answer this question for me, it just doesn't make sense to me.
So how can the millennium be when He establishes His kingdom if all His enemies have not been put under His feet? That's what I can't put together from these statements. :neutral

Seems to me He was born King.. The scriptures literally tell us what His Kingdom is...
Real clear real plain...

Rom_14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Why can not be happy with that :)

That is true, Reba. I think those who can accept that are the people who have the most peace and rest in the Lord. Happiness.

Man is so bound and undermined to put Him on our idea of a throne.... O boy We will let Jesus leave heaven and set in a man made building on a chair..

Act_7:49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?

that because man likes to put things in the bible in theological boxes . ie its this and this easy when its not. there is so much that we aren't meant to understand. I like simplicity too. but the more I read the word and debate it, I find it simple get saved and not clear on how He will return only that He does.

I would like to ask you a serious question that I would like you to think about before you answer. I don't want you to answer with a Bible verse, only your thoughts.

In the preterism forum you posted in a reply to me where you made it clear that the new covenant declared in Jer 31:33 was still yet future.

Jer 31:33
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel;
After those days, saith the Lord,
I will put my law in their inward parts,
and write it in their hearts;
and will be their God,
and they shall be my people.

The promise of the new covenant was that by the Spirit of the Lord, He would write his laws into our Hearts; And that the kingdom of heaven is within us (Luke 17:20-21).

If the promise was that the Lord would write his laws into our hearts, then why would you need to go to Jerusalem to learn God's law and obey it as you have stated concerning Micah 4:2?

:confusedYou must be reading a different Bible than me.

Nope, I read the same Bible, just differently than you.

For example, Micah 4:2 points to the reign of Solomon as a shadow of the reign of Christ, where the rest of the world will flock to adopt the wisdom of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Yet whereas Solomon was only a man, whose kingdom was therefore ultimately infected by its exposure to foreign doctrine, Jesus is God, thus exposure to His kingdom heals the nations who come to Him of their false doctrine. This is the time we are in now, and the great commission is part of the process by which Christ is currently healing the world.

Don't feel like I am asking you to try to answer this question for me, it just doesn't make sense to me.
