I was thinking over all the things that we have to get rid of before we go to heaven and they were too numerous, jealousy, envy, pride, anger, just keep going from there.

So then I turned it around and went over what we truly need to have to take with us to heaven and came across what seems to stand out, one of which of course is our physical bodies which will be transformed and what David prayed for..
Psalm 51:10
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

So defects of character must be repented of and overcome through the grace of Christ, and a clean heart and right spirit come withing us for the saints to take to heaven. The Bible says it in many different ways but here is my favorite....

1 Corinthians 13:1-10
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

What are the other things we will take....?

Randy Alcon's book Heaven and ministry 'Eternal perspectives' is such a great resource. I'm currently going through Heaven again and I find the closer I am to Christ the more interested in my destination!

What will I bring? Hopefully a well chiseled spirit and an anemic flesh. :idea

Nothing!!!!! The stuff of this earth has had in chance to have it's grip on me... There is nothing here that is of any eternal value to me. Whatever parts of me Jesus wants in eternity is fine with me. Lord please scrape off the rest.

We take nothing with us as if we are truly Christ own by faith and obedience to His commands, we are first given new glorified bodies that have been made righteous before God and then caught up to meet Jesus in the air and will be with Him for all eternity.

1Thess 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1Thess 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
1Thess 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1Thess 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Thess 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1Thess 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

It's an interesting question. Materially we can certainly take nothing with us. But there is one thing we can take, actually, and that is those we ministered to in this life, and brought up in the things of God. Our love for one another and the relationships we built is something we will be able to keep, and take with us into eternity.

18 Therefore we wanted to come to you--even I, Paul, time and again--but Satan hindered us. 19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? 20 For you are our glory and joy. (1 Thessalonians 2:18-20)
