Who do you think are the two witnesses in Revelation?

I haven't really studied it, but is there some reason it has to be somebody from the Bible? Why couldn't it just be two people God will raise up during the last days?

What are olive trees what are candlesticks ... literal trees and literal candlesticks?

The two witnesses can not be that of Elijah or Moses as even now they are dead (sleep) in their graves. The two witnesses spoken of in Rev 11 is the word (God) and the Spirit (Holy Spirit) which is given to the Church (body of Christ) to preach until the day of the Lord, which is when Christ returns.

John compares the two witnesses to the two candlesticks and two olive trees, which if you read Zechariah Chapter four it explains that the golden candlestick is God. The seven lamps with the seven pipes holds the oil (anointing), which is that of the seven Spirits of God: wisdom, understanding, counsel, knowledge, reverence, might and Spirit of the Lord.

Satan has always tried to shut the word down and thought he did so when Christ was crucified, but in three days the word (Jesus) was made live again.

The two witness are that of the word and Holy Spirit as we the body of Christ continue in teaching His word until the seventh trumpet call. It's only through the Spirit of God that can shut up heaven and destroy His enemies.

I have a friend who believes the two witnesses are the Old and New Testaments. Like I said earlier, I haven't studied it, but it seems to me that it's talking about actual people.Has anyone here heard the theory about them being the Testaments and do you know what that's based on? My friend has never explained it to me.

I've heard something similar but that they may be witnesses of the Old and New Testaments. ie. a faithful Jew and a Gentile Christian ( individuals ).ie. A representative from Israel and the Church.

Rev 1 infers that candle sticks may represent the Church

Rev 1:20 KJV The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

The Olive tree ( good ) is used to represent the flesh stock of Abraham and the Patriarchs in Romans I think. ( although the Gentiles are said to be a wild Olive tree ). Also in the OT Olive tree is used several times to represent Judah and Israel.

Jer 11:13 KJV For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to that shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal.

Revelation tells us that the two witnesses will prophecy, they will be clothed in sackcloth, they will be killed, their bodies will lie in the street in Jerusalem for 3 1/2 days and that the will come back to life. Does the person you quote explain how any of that can apply to quantum and relativity?

The Jews still have a separate ministry to come in the last days esp. after the full number of Gentiles come in.

No place do the scriptures say these are 2 people...does it imply yup it also implies they are lampstands or trees... The way God wrote the scriptures is just fantastic.... the way His writings bring out our thoughts the way we can talk and talk about them... If He had said 1 witness will be John the Baptist the other King David.... how much discussion would there be? It does not matter what i think today or what i thought yesteryear.... it will be as He planned... The discussion are interesting...

Doesn't the word of God does many things and was it not Jesus that was killed and then came back to life in front of many witnesses, just something to think about

Jesus stopped the disciples when they wanted to call down fire on cities that rejected Him.

The two witnesses will call down fire on whom they will, and they won't be stopped.

The world , even the churches, get mad at the two witnesses, furious even, and party and rejoice when the two witnesses are 'finally' killed=== worldwide partying for a short time, until the two witnesses are raised up ! then HORROR WORLDWIDE, GREAT FEAR WILL TAKE HOLD OF EVERYONE (except the elect, the remnant, the few who belong to Jesus).

This does happen already today (the world, and many churches, get mad at anyone who witnesses for Jesus and proclaims the truth),
but not on the scale it will be ... ... ... although it is so widespread, worldwide , now.... hmmmm .... ... ...
