9 And being made perfect
(refers to being brought to the goal fixed by God, which had to be if He was to be the Perfect Sacrifice), He became the Author of Eternal Salvation
(proclaims a perfect Salvation, because He was and is the Perfect Redeemer, because He was the Perfect Sacrifice) unto all them who obey Him
(we obey Him by exhibiting Faith in the Cross, which then gives the Holy Spirit latitude to work; this Truth was given to Paul [Rom. 6:3-5, 11, 14; Gal. 1:11-12]);”
Hebrews 5:9

This is a good example of why God forbids us to add to His word.
We obey Jesus Christ as our Lord, by obeying Him.
We are called to live a lifestyle, in which we are led by His Spirit to practice righteousness and obey His commandments.
He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1 John 2:4
Its starts with obeying the Gospel, in which we are born again.
Then we have a new nature that is compatible with His Spirit that empowers us to live a godly life of loving God and loving our neighbor, which by definition is keeping His commandment.
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3
There is no such scripture in the Bible that says we are to
”place our faith in the cross” or “exhibiting faith in the cross”.
Our Faith is in Jesus Christ who lives in each of His people and leads them and guides them in a very real living tangible way, every single day.
Please stop adding your own man made commentary to God’s word.
Here are some instructions from Peter to the Church.
But also for this very reason, giving all diligence,
add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For
if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.
Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 1:5-11
