Why So Much Diversity?

Maybe a strange question, but why did God allow so many different cultures to proliferate? Why not just make everyone Jewish, or at least Middle Eastern like Jesus was?

Because God did not want robots, but a people to enjoy His good pleasure Ephesians 1:9,10; Rev 4:11.

Remember the story of The Tower of Babel? Human nature being as horrible as it is...maybe its good that we're still divided into different groups and cultures? I'd love to dream about the brotherhood of man, human unity, etc., but The Bible paints a very different picture of human nature (without Christ). When groups do get together, sometimes very bad things happen...wars, conflict, destruction, oppression.

Plus...as different as groups may appear on the surface, sometimes you just have to do a little digging. Even myths of various groups follow similar themes, from what I've read ((yes, Joseph Campbell)). A lot of variables shape how individuals+groups+societies develop, but I think at the core we share a common (not so great) human nature.

The Good News, thankfully, joins all believers together in a shared outlook, The Christian Worldview. Even when earnest believers have intense disagreements (I imagine the debates here pale in comparison to what goes on "out there"), our re-birth in Christ serves as a common bond.
