Will You Go ?

Will I still go to heaven if I am cremated? Is it a sin? What does the Bible say?

I am convinced that neither life nor death nor powers can separate us from the love of God...

I'm sure that Apostle John is in Heaven even though his fingers are spread out all over the planet...and in heaven his hands are whole.

Going to Heaven is not determined by burial or cremation. However burial is a Jewish and Christian practice, whereas cremation is pagan through and through.

The Bible says, your body will turn to dust, where it came from, and your spirit returns to God.
Why not let it turn to ashes or dust a whole lot faster?
Some folks in the World Trade Center had no choice.
A lot of Sailors were buried at sea, I'm sure eaten up.
I believe this flesh is like a space suit, it houses the spiritual.
Absent from the body present with the Lord.
No need for this earthly vessel anymore.
In Rev.6:11 it states
White robes were given to those whom had died, must be in their glorified bodies.
The rich man recognized Lazarus in Abraham's bosom, must had some kind of spiritual body.
In 1Thess.4:14 it states,
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus, will God BRING with Him.
They are already there....
I don't see anything wrong with it, it is cheaper....

When Jesus comes again, the dead Christians (in whatever form they are in) will be raised to life eternal with God. God does not require a body to be whole for Him to resurrect it. During the early years of the church, Christians were often fed to lions as a punishment for their faith. Although it is a morbid thought, one would imagine that their bodies were no longer intact. What about one who was burned at the stake? God has the power to transform these mangled corpses in the same way that He could one who has be cremated.
It is illogical to believe that one would not go to heaven if they are cremated. What about one who donates their organs to another? What about one who donates their body to science when they die? This physical body will be changed during the final resurrection into an immortal body. If God could form man from the dust of the Earth He can also raise up an individual from their cremated remains.

More humanistic thinking. Scripture should count for something.
In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. (Gen 3:19).
The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. (1 Cor 15:47).

When you are cremated what do you think you mostly are ? Dust

It won't be up to you in all reality.
None of it.

Those you leave behind will deal with your carcass. So it's really up to them.
How well your wishes get followed will be decided by them.
Unfortunately by selling life insurance policies long ago I learned what that really means. Sometimes it is exactly what they wanted and sometimes more... But often its much less.
Funeral homes are big business and with high margins. Even cremation isn't what it used to be either. (Considered bottom feeders in the industry)

Donating your body to science usually costs more than a simple burial does and what your body gets used for is usually not glamorous nor teaches anyone much except that it's better to be alive than dead.

Cryogenic freezing is exorbitantly expensive... And is pretty much a waste as the freezing process does a lot of damage.

We will be treated as our families decide based upon their back pocket and their love for us...based upon our lifetime treatment of them.

BTW...I've seen how the prepaid ones go as well... It's seen legally as a suggestion and not a requirement for the executor of your estate. They still do as they please.
(Heard where plots were sold and deceased cremated).

Also seen where ashes were put into jewelry and some made into jewelry... As well as urns and flower pots and vases and candle holders.

Maybe I should be made into one of those things... Except a chamber pot. But a candlestick is a good idea.

I think there are heavier concerns regarding heaven then whether your baried or any other kind of why we have to deal with being dead, and those who have died.

To add to the mix I've heard of some stories where a king or a knight was placed on a woden raft for his barial set off to sea and with a tourch, or an arrow on fire, the raft was set on fire. Dob't know if these stories are based on any history or are just some story telling, but there's probabley a lot of different concerns and customs about rites of barials.

... that said, I don't want to be cremated. But I hate how expensive it is to properly set up a burial in this time and age. My parents when buryind my grandma really thoght it cruel how the funeral homes tacked prices up on other prices without a hint of a second thought.

Ashes to ashes and dust to dust will this fleshly body be if it dies before Christ returns. Scripture is silent on this issue of cremation. It's not this body we have now that will be raised when Christ returns as flesh and blood can not inherit the kingdom of heaven. We will be raised with a new glorified body much like that of the glorified body of Jesus.

1Co 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
1Co 15:46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
1Co 15:47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
1Co 15:48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
1Co 15:49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
1Co 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
1Co 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
1Co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
1Co 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
1Co 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
1Co 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
1Co 15:56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
1Co 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1Co 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Check out the composition of dust vs ash. Also the practice of cremation in pagan religions.
If you feel that way, simply dont.there's no ritual when then burn the body.trust me.I have been near a furnace burning bodies.not more then a car there .silence .I may choose creamation.save my wife money.

And people who burn up in a house fire, what do you call that ? Have they ruined their eternal life Malachi ?

When we each enter heaven eventually, we will have new bodies, new forms. Therefore, we will have no need for this earthly form.

Burial? Cremation? Some people have no choice to the matter. For those who do have choice, it's entirely up to the individual.

Personally, I'd rather my heirs to take the $12,000 or more (which a burial could potential cost) and donate it to one of the charities I support. In my opinion, the money would be better put to use.

I don't see how this is a huge issue...the body after death doesn't seem to be a big deal to God. Some (many?) people choose cremation out of cost concerns, which I think AirDancer mentioned. I'd rather be cremated and have people at a memorial service and then scattered...somewhere...than buried in a pauper's grave (personal preference...).

Because God did not sanction ashes. Evidently that may not be important to you, but it is to Christ.
Do you have scripture to back that up?
Some countries are so crowded they have no choice...
What do you think happened to some in the World Trade Center? Nothing but ashes.
Indians believed in the One Great Spirit, they were burnt....
As someone mentioned, they would put one on a wooden raft and set afire on the water.
Sailors that got buried at sea, have nothing left, not even ashes.
We have no use for this flesh any longer, thank God...
Spirit is not flesh...
