Britain is more thoroughly secular-ized than the US. I have a friend who got married and moved to England. She says...well, they're beyond "post-Christian;" religion is, at most, a -very- personal affair.
The NT tells us that in the last days, the love of many shall wax cold. I'm thinking we're seeing that, with secularization, and many churches becoming way, way too comfortable with surrounding culture.
Its happening in the US, too, but...of course, it takes on a different form, a different "flavor." Here locally, a (now fired) megachurch pastor gave a sermon on how the 10 Commandments are -really- (somehow...) the 10 Promises. His point was to remake the 10 Commandments into God wanting to bless us for doing His will, something like that...that and, somehow, he came to the conclusion that "commandment" was not an accurate translation. True story...and I live in "The Bible Belt" ("1,000 miles wide, 1 inch deep").
do you like David Wilkerson? I'm not a super fan, but I am a fan, and I respect his life's work. Back in the 70s, he had a vision of what the end times would look like in America, and in the American church, in particular. He wrote it down, and...surprise, surprise; a lot of it is coming to pass now. Legalized gay unions, gay unions being 'affirmed' and celebrated in some churches, a resurgence of interest in the occult (even in Christian circles...), plus...what he termed a "remnant" of believers, from all denominations, who would cross paths and support each other in their walk with The Lord, even as the old denominations became more and more worldly and straight up evil. Something to think about...
