I think God is always "talking" in one way or another, people just aren't attuned to it. As for as when the actual voice comes, it's because God wants something done and has nothing to do with ones level of holiness or devotion. Is it because some need this more than others or is it simply because they are closer to Jesus?
Maybe some folks talk to God more than others? Is it because some need this more than others or is it simply because they are closer to Jesus?
They have a stronger imagination.
Imagination and reason are important skills/traits to have in building our faith in God.
I've also noticed that life experience can trigger more faith in God. I know of a guy who became a priest. When he was 11, his mother died and that event triggered a search, a spiritual search fro several years. I think deaths of loved ones can make our faith more real.
If you read more of C S Lewis and Peter Kreeft, both respected theologians, you will discover the value of imagination in our faith journeys. Lack of imagination contributes to atheism or a very narrow faith mind-set.Are you saying that anyone who hears God speak to them is only their imaginations? Imagination and reason are not skills as for one thing reasoning is only that of a carnal mind set to imagine anything, but yet not necessarily a reality. Building faith comes by trusting in all the promises of God through that of His Son Christ Jesus. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God, Romans 10:17. Faith grows when we grow in the knowledge of truth by that of Gods Holy Spirit teaching us.

Actually, there is a lot of value in using our imagination when we read the Bible.
The several times I believe God most clearly spoke to me (via thoughts) was when I was so severely backslidden I doubted He existed any more.I think God is always "talking" in one way or another, people just aren't attuned to it. I definitely could stand to improve my listening skillsIs it because some need this more than others or is it simply because they are closer to Jesus?
i didn't know i could hear from God until i hung around christians who did it all the timeIs it because some need this more than others or is it simply because they are closer to Jesus?

amenLolI love your sense of humor Reba, but on a serious note I believe that it's right. I believe that God speaks to us all of the time. We just have to want to listen.
