Bible Study walk as he walked

1 John 2:6 - He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
all right i am casting a fishing line out to see what happens walk as he walks what are your thoughts on walking as he did ?

please no legalism .i want your thoughts as to how/what it means /how to . if not interested pass on by

Fabulous post Ezra.
My thoughts on it are that we should live our lives as Jesus lived His, as much is as humanly possible. To list all the ways to do this would take pages of long posts.

As a youngster Jesus honoured His mother and father. When Mary told Him it was not time to start His Father's business He obeyed her.

When the time did come Jesus obeyed His heavenly Father. He spoke the words God told Him to.

Jesus was :-

Humble, patient and shown love to all.
He prayed constantly and always gave the glory to God.
He knew the scriptures.
Kind, gentle, truthful, fearless and faithful.
Resisted temptation , fasted and suffered for God and mankind.
Forgiving, loving , understanding and pointed out people's mistakes.
Jesus had tremendous faith. His main goal was to honour His Father and to save souls.
He had many more attributes that posters will list.
We should be striving in all these things. Jesus is our example. He had all the fruits of The Holy Spirit. We should be praying for these gifts, or the fruits God wants us to have.
We will never be perfect but we should aim for the highest we are capable of. Because of Jesus we have obtained salvation. We owe Him tremendously.

Couple of things that stand out to me.

He was obedient unto death. Phil 2:8

He held his tongue and said not a word before his accusers. Matt 26:62-63, Mark 14:60-61

he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter,

Acts 8:32
The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

This is a very good exercise in spiritual thought. First of all, one must know the Scripture well enough to live like Jesus did without checking with the Scriptures moment by moment.

Second, The Holy Spirit is the Guide....
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Gal 5:23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Gal 5:25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.

This last verse, verse 25, is the key to the OP. This is how to walk as Jesus walked.

Walk as Jesus walked is walking in genuine love for one another no matter where they come from or what they have done as no one is without sin other than Jesus who paid a debt He did not owe and we owe a debt we can never pay. The greatest commandment is love and this is what Jesus walks in as we need to follow in His footsteps.

the key that does the walk is walking in the spirit walking in the light yes having knowledge of the word i used some the things Tessa posted only i used them in the fruit of the spirit which is results of the walk i had 6 people last night to preach to lol

There are literally books written on this, and my favorite is Dan Spader. I've actually reached out to his organization to see if they would teach the series for us.

Walking as Jesus walked is about being a diciple and making diciples. What is a diciple? Glad you asked. A diciple is a mirror image of his Rabbi. That means that the more we get to know our Rabbi, the more like Him we become.

Unfortunately, we put Jesus on such a high pedastool, he becomes unobtainable. Yes Jesus is God and He is diety, but He also humbled himself and became fully man with struggles and temptations just like us. So dont think we cant be like him in many, many ways to where we cant pattern our lives after the life He lived. Anyone that says we cant, well, that's a lie from Satan. Moses even wrote on this in Deuteronomy 30:11-14

Yes, to walk as He walked we are to walk in love as Jesus has told us to do:
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35 (NIV)

Actually the fruits of the Spirit are not the results of walking in the Spirit, but what the Holy Spirit gives us for the purpose of God's ministry within the body of Christ. Everything within our walk is the result of the greatest gift of all being that of God's pure love.

Well said, and I also would like to add Deuteronomy 30:15-20 as this is what is set before us from God.
