Hello everyone, I hope all reading this are doing well. I recently converted to Christianity, and I'm so truly happy about it. I'm a cannabis user however, and I use it for a number of issues, including chronic pain, sleeplessness, and appetite problems. I only want to do what the Lord intends for us to, and I can't find a real answer on this topic. I used to use it 3 times a day and for fear of overindulgence I made it once a day at the end of the day. But I'm just trying to see if it's not ok in the eyes of the Lord. I don't become lazy or lost in the clouds like some do, I function just fine with it, so I'm not in an intoxicated state when I use it, or at least don't feel that way. Any help and clarity on the issue is very appreciated, I'm not looking for an excuse to keep using if it's bad, I just want to be sure it's something I need to give up considering how much it helps my ailments. God bless all of you!

How much and what kind of exercise are you doing in a days time ?

Hi gsw331 and welcome to CF :wave2

My husband also uses for his pain as he was on pain pills, but with all the government regulations they only give them to you for a certain amount of time. He could go to pain management, but neither one of us want these man made chemicals in our bodies as we would rather use pure herbs and that is what cannabis is in it's natural form. So many say that cannabis is a gateway drug, but that is not true as God gave cannabis in it's pure form as medicinal. If it helps you then I for one say keep using it as needed.

Gen 1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

Thank you so much for your response, I just don't want to displease the Lord. The fear of God is very real for me, so I want to make sure I don't jeopardize my soul for something that he doesn't approve of. My mindset is very much the same as yours, but I just didn't want to confuse my wants for what the Lord would want. I hope you stay blessed and thank you again for the response.

Thank you so very much and PRAISE GOD INDEED! My regular routine through the day is my job as a butcher, and it along with the family keep me pretty active. At my most I was smoking 3 times a day and a "bowl " each time. Now I'm once a day maybe twice if it's a rough day, and a bowl a day instead. It seems a very grey area of debate amongst the Christian community so I greatly appreciate any and all insight from those more knowledgeable than myself. Thank you for the response and God bless you and yours.

Keep in mind is that overindulgence in anything is sinful. That can be liquor, drugs, food, etc. If one is using to the point of getting high or intoxicated or otherwise affecting your judgment, that is too much. For example, there is no place in Scripture where it says that it is a sin to drink alcoholic drinks. What Scripture does speak against is intoxication and gluttony.

For my two bits...

I use as well but because of health problems can't smoke... edible or oils for me.
I found that I was using for the same reason I used to drink to excess.
Now I cut all substance use to minimal levels to get the "job done".
A bit of edible for sleep and that is it.

The heart is the metric that I use to measure my substance use. Why am I doing this substance? My motives?
You can take some codeine for a migraine... but should you use it for recreation?
If pain management is the reason... then maybe getting "couch locked" is too much.
Why are you doing the substance and are you using the pain/sleeplessness/etc as an excuse?

Sometimes I overdue it and just enjoy the ride... then I have to correct the dose so that I don't overdue it.
Take medicine... not drugs. (If you take my meaning.)

As drugs go cannabis is safer than many other options. In the psych realm…

Omg 😳 wish I could tolerate it. So much safer and pleasant than the standard psych drugs.

I dunno 🤷‍♂️ my opinion is sort of from Szasz the shrink author of the myth of mental illness. People do drugs. People have a right to drugs. Doctors should restrict their expertise to guiding those who seek their services not controlling people and their access to drugs. Within that framework I think if Jesus…

These days I take mega dose vitamins lol 😂

Honestly I think it's fine for medical use. The only real problem is when you're using it illegally. Can it be addictive? Yeah. But so are anti-anxiety medications such as benzos (Xanax, Ativan) and those are prescribed legally. The solution is so obvious: use only as directed

I've never had full on cannabis, but I have had CBD and even just that was AMAZING at erasing the pain I was in

No doubt that it can help with aliments .
For me the $64,000 question is were your very first experiences with it purely for reasons health or for intoxication ?
If you are someone whose very first experiences with it were purely seeking health benefits then you are in a different , and much smaller category of user.
Also is my understanding that the medicinal effects are equal in the cannabis compounds that have had the THC removed ?
Which are you using and why ?

When I was a kid, I remember one of my friends mentioning going to the drug store ad another of my friends reacted in horror, saying that sounded bad. And they had a little argument over it.
Prescription drugs are still drugs, just under controlled and calculated use. The difference between helpful drugs and unhelpful ones are, I suppose, how addictive they are, if there is any medical purpose to them (as opposed to the only use being recreational highs) and that some are toxic while others are not. But I'm no medical professional, sooooo.....

My regular routine through the day is my job as a butcher, and it along with the family keep me pretty active.
I have chronic pain of an arthritic nature, many decades, and I have found out exercising in water is of great help for me . Before this it was NSAIDs and pain pills in large amounts . If you can not do water exercises there are other low impact exercises such as pilates , walking .
I'm a cannabis user however, and I use it for a number of issues, including chronic pain, sleeplessness, and appetite problems.
Are you under a doctors care for your many issues ? The appetite issue really concerns me , you are a young man still in the prime of life and not an old codger like me :biggrin2 .

For me my sinful youthful partaking of weed pretty much rules out the use of it in it's same form for any kind of medical benefit now.
Just to much baggage seared into my mind to be able to use it at this late date for whatever reason without it being troubling and disturbing to me in my heart.
I know that The cure would be worse than the condition for me .
I would have to find another remedy .
All due to the painful memories of my youth, Letting my parents down, sacrificing school, being a bad influence to siblings and others who I should have been guiding in a Godly way.
That and the here and now visuals of friends of my youth I now see who were never able to climb that mountain out of drug use and now they are mere shells of what was once the fulfilling life, futures they once had every potential to be.
Still consumed with the daily high in their advanced age.
Just seeing them now hurts me, knowing I was once right there in it with them, contributing to it .
I really have no problem with the government saying that it will no longer be outlawed.
I don't think any person should be thrown in jail for simply using it.
It is it's own punishment for far to many as far as I am concerned

A lot of plants in general have different health benifits, they natural remedies.

If the USA department of Health has a patant on cannabanoids, and also in some places doctors precribe it, so I guess weed is not bad at all, its just a natural seed bearing plant with known health benifits. It's just the THC that's illegal in many places and what gets people stoned.

But like anything abused its not healthy or good for you.

It's at police discretion where I live. There was a vote I think legalise and control recreational use or something and it was close. 50.7% of voters opposing the legalisation and 48.4% in favor.

It's at police discretion here now anyhow.

I think Thailand just legalised it. They went from like 15 years prison for having a smidge of weed to nothing.

There’s been talk of medical use in my state and occasionally decriminalization. Supposedly a conservative Bible Belt USA state but…so many people on drugs of all sorts. Weed…probably the least problematic substance around. Maybe that’s just modern day usa in general?

The problem with weed is it got demonized like its the devil yet now its coming to light and acknowledged the benifits it has that people had been talking about for years. Not even medicinal but just in general what can do with it and use ot for, like Hemp. Doctors prescribe meds that are mind altering and synthetic man made products so whats the difference. I guess because it's a natural seed bearing herb and it cannot be controlled and thats where the issue is and why it's illegal.
