Today, this is the same way that we receive the promise of salvation from all of the curse from God. Believing God. ..... If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham. Joh 8:39

So we have seen that when we believe God, God calls it "works" These are not the "works of the flesh" (BAD works) but to believe God is called "the works of God"

Joh 6:28 They said therefore unto him, What must we do, that we may work the works of God?
Joh 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Who did God send?
He sent the Word of God.
So to do the works of God, you and I must believe the Word of God.

How does what you are saying fall along side of James chapter 2? It would seem like James was specifically speaking to more than just head knowledge, what we would call "belief".

Don't get me wrong, what you describe is an element of faith that cannot be denied. And I am NOT saying that you must 'work' for Salvation. I am just curious how what you are saying lines up with what James taught.

James speaks of the works that naturally follows faith.Jas 2:24 Ye see that by works a man is justified, and not only by faith.

Faith has fruit that follows it.The "works" of James are the works that is a visual confirmation that the person is indeed in faith.

Example; If I did not believe (faith) that a cheque (or check as the Americans say) can indeed be cashed in for real money I would have thrown all of them away during my lifetime. But now I believe (faith) they can be cashed, so I go to the bank and hand it over (works) to the teller. My faith, would have been no good if I did not add the works to it. Only believing the check is money and keeping it in my cupboard, will not magically bring money, even if I have the faith in the value of the check.
The same with our faith in any promise. Just sitting there and saying :"I believe, I believe" brings no results. But we have to add a "walk" we have to add an "action" and that will bring a manifestation to our faith.

Speaking is also a "work" 1Ti 6:12 Fight the good fight of the faith, lay hold on the life eternal, whereunto thou wast called, and didst confess the good confession in the sight of many witnesses.

We become silly in the eyes of the world when we are in faith, because we are believing something that they cannot see and they think that is stupid. But that is what we must do. Believing a promise, cannot be seen with our eyes : ..... The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Luk 17:20 So it cannot be seen , it can only be seen by faith.

We call things which are not as if they were. We "see" the end from the beginning. And if we really do, then it will show up in our walk (works)

Very good illustration! So you do correctly believe that from day one of Gen. 2:7's creation of Adam on to Rev. 22's ending, that the Bible Promises are all conditional?? (unless otherwise stated such as the rain falling on the just & unjust alike & a couple others)

Hi Elijah. Yes they are conditional. :)

The first word of God.

Gen 1:3
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. KJV

The first time "the Word " is used in the Bible.

Gen 15:1 After these things the word of Jehovah came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God.......

John 1:1 .......the Word was God.

Hi Elijah. Yes they are conditional. :)

Hi again,
I don't know where you are going with the thread? but, let me AGREE 100% with you on that. And with that being the case, how about hundreds of later promises? Most claim promises all through the Bible without even thinking of any condition!

I see that no promise can expect fullfillment except it be found with the condition being met from day one of Gen. 3. Stay away from the known devils stuff.

Case in point:
N.T. Matt. 4:4 All Bible is to be our 'daily' FOOD!
And satan quotes a promise to Christ [THE WORD HIMSELF] almost Word for Word! Notice verse 6 (ibid.)

'For it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, least at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.'

And the promise came from THE OLD TESTAMENT EVEN, (where most do not even 'DIGEST' food from!:screwloose) It is that promise of Psalms 91:11-12!

SO: The promise was there, & quoted, but who other than you & a very few others realize that ALL/MOST ALL PROMISES are conditional on Obedience? And Christ gave the Condition.. 'YE SHALL NOT TEMPT THE LORD' ibid. 7

BUT, that was not all that Christ said! He DOCUMENTED where in the O.T. that that REQUIREMENT came from. Deut. 6:16.

There are very few promises stated for where there is no condition. And never is such where Eternal Life is concerned! A couple such ones are the rainbow in the sky + the rain. Also Nah. 1:9's no second time application.

Thanks Elijah, I was going somewhere but somehow the tread became something else. lol.

Yes there are plenty conditions in the Word. Forgiveness is one such a condition that if not met, will stop the promises.

Joh 16:27 for the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came forth from the Father.

What does this "came forth " mean?

G1831
ἐξέρχομαι
exerchomai
ex-er'-khom-ahee
From G1537 and G2064; to issue (literally or figuratively): - come-(forth, out), depart (out of), escape, get out, go (abroad, away, forth, out, thence), proceed (forth), spread abroad.

Mat 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.

The Word proceeded out of the mouth of God and entered the womb of Mary.

Joh 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth.

1Jn 1:1 That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we beheld, and our hands handled, concerning the Word of life Mat 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
