*disclaimer: yes, I am going to talk a little economics in the teens forum. Just a little! (shock horror!
)*

People say the Australian economy is at this point in time one of the best in the world - well since the GFC we have had 1 quarter of negative growth, and interest rates are at the moment 4.75%. The economy is chugging along quite nicely, and remember we have the mining boom.
But...we just saw Australia produce it's first contraction of GDP since 1991. Sure, not many are losing jobs like they are in the US and in Europe, but it's still very hard to find jobs.
So, this actually does lead somewhere!
My situation: I finished school last year. Earlier this year I went with my familly over to Europe for a couple of months on a holiday, and now that I'm back, nothing is going down, so I need to find a job to fill in the time and make some money before going to university next year.
Well about a month ago I finally got a job after a six months of searching (with our trip in the middle of that searching). I searched for many different jobs - retail, office, sales, telemarketing, and finally got a job at the Australian division of Burger King.
Many of my friends are finding the same - there's just not the work out there that there used to be.
Ok, that's my rant over!
