yes but sheol and hades are empty to some theologians but also the sea and the death have the dead in it to be awaiting judgment.im leaning towards your idea but hades(sheol) and the sea and death have yet to be emptied on the lost are there. however, by believing levels you are taking somethings from the idea of purgatory.sheol is something that I have studied a lot on. it had levels to it and was a purgatory. it is alluded to in 1 peter 3:18
The new testament equivalent of shoel is hades.Purgatory is not biblical.Their is no purgatory.All souls go to heaven or hades at the time of death.If someone has drown in the sea God will resurrect that body at the time which all bodies will be resurrected from the grave and the sea for judgment.

one peter 3, that is prior to the cross and resurrection, well the resurrection is what ended that but when jesus died he passed through sheol and preached to the cross to those there. read it as it says not with the bias we all have.some teach that the bible says those are angels. they aren't, they wouldn't be preached too. others agree that it was the flood and those that didn't listen and were killed and sent to sheol. sheol predates jewry, job mentions it. he isn't a Hebrew. after the cross there's no idea of purgatory.sheol and hades must be understood by the cultures that had them and viewed them. otherwise gehenna will be a lost cause of debate. sheol and hades have a level like gehenna.

Iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the face of his friend. Pro 27:17
Iron is the most common element in the dirt, we just drag something magnet through it and it picks up the iron particles, ...we are dust, we are the iron and in the sharpening process we tend to heat up the face of the person we are sharpening, no, ...isn't that what is happen here?
So can we put on the love of Christ and dwell in humility and friendship towards one another as fraternal comrades?
What if God brought you and I together for a sharpening process?

In Luke 16 Jesus teaches about a real event, it is not a parable, in the center of the earth is a place called Sheol or Abraham's bosom that is divided into two compartments, one side was called Paradise where those souls went who had believed in the Savior/Redeemer and the other side a place of torments, where the souls that had rejected the Savior/Redeemer stayed, Paul teaches that when Jesus ascended on high He took Paradise with him, so now, today there is only one compartment in Sheol, that is the place of torments where the souls of the people go that have rejected Jesus as Savior/Redeemer.
In 1 Peter 3, Peter teaches that Jesus descended into Sheol/Hades/Hell (Sheol=Hebrew, Hades=Greek, Hell=English, all words for the same place) to preach to souls and spirits, souls in Sheol/Hades/Hell, and spirits in the bottomless pit - abussos, two distinct and different places, in the abussos are the disobedient spirits of Gen 6 that did not keep their proper abode.
The question is why did He descend and what did He preach, ...first He visited Sheol/Hades/Hell to preach to the awaiting souls He was the Savior/Redeemer, ...second to the spirits in the abussos that He had accomplished the command given to the first Adam in Gen 1:28 to subdue the earth, but failed to do, which the Last Adam accomplished during His temptations, and causing the wind and seas to be subject to His commands, and in the multiplication of bread and fish, and in the raising of the dead.

Is this Revelation?This means that whoever died at sea their body will rise to be resurrected to heaven or hell.

uhm the word spirit is in what in Hebrew? a person in never called a ruach. that is a word for soul. in Hebrew thought one is a soul. the ruach is one of five clothings that the soul has.i believe that the greek word for spirit is pneuma in that context

Interestingly, there is the passage of the rich man already in torment, in hell, and Lazarus in paradise.

lazarus simply means poor man. that parable is really a warning to the Pharisees. its taking their idea of sheol and using that to show them they will ascend to the abydon(the double portion of which theres no return)
Their is a debate among Christians on rather that is a parable or a real happening.
