However, neither should you accept everything that is "prophesied" because it could just be the person speaking according to his/her own inspiration rather than the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need of anything to be written to you, for you yourselves well know that the day of the Lord is coming in the same way as a thief in the night.
1 Thessalonians 5:1-2
Is it a good prophesy to hold fast to that the day of the Lord is coming as a thief in the night?
How can 'the day of the Lord is coming in the same way as a thief in the night' be taken in any other way than to mean that 'the day of the Lord is coming...as a thief in the night?' It's a pretty straight forward statement. That depends if you rightly divide what is being said.
It could honestly be said that the Day of the Lord is not coming as a thief in the night, as well as the Day of the Lord is coming as a thief in the night.
For me, He is not coming as a thief in the night.

It's straight forward statement, period. Not applicable to brothers, but true nonetheless. It is a straight forward statement concerning the world, but not the Church.

Just as true is the statement of the Lord's coming as a thief in the night, is the fact that we are (presently) "all" sons of day (not just some).
for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.God did not appoint us ("all sons") for wrath.
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=1 Thessalonians 5:5&version=LEB
God appointed us ("all sons") for the obtaining of salvation.
Whether we ("all sons") are awake or asleep, we ("all sons") will live at the same time (Eternally) with him.
Right. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ
Right.
So we obtain salvation through us or Him?
He died for us, not us for Him right?
So whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him, right?
