I need to buy a car within the next year, and I really like the 2011+ Volvo S60. I have seen some nice used S60s for around $13k, which seems perfectly reasonable. We already have an XC60, which I love, and our mechanic says that he loves the S60, but I've never really seen one in person. Does anyone have any postive stories to tell about S60s? We are fully sold on Volvos because of their tremendous real world safety, so I'm not interested in other brands ;) Anyway, just thought I'd ask!

Yes James, Volvos are very hipster, probably more so than any other car.
Someone could make a case for a Mercedes but that would be it.
I notice your info says you are 15 years old and you are looking to spend 13 thousand.
Sounds good James.
Do you also give money to poor people like me?

Back a few years the GTX with a big powerful 440 was only $3,600.00 out the door new it had 6 miles on it.. The cost of cars today makes me feel very very old...

hello Reba, dirtfarmer here

I remember those cars. A friend of my has a Dodge Charger Daytona with the 426 hemi motor. At one time he had 2 of them, but sold one of them. He also has a GTX 440 6 pack that he shows some times.

I grew up with old volvos. My dad had a huge side business and IPG stated he had more old Volvo parts than any other source on the west coast. My Dad believed in them and I can attest they were great cars, even if nobody ever wrote songs about them lol.

My Dad didn't like what Ford did with Volvo and has owned toyotas every since. That being said, if you like the car and can afford it and the repairs, then enjoy it!

Believe me, I don't have $13k! I will put about $5k down, finance the rest, and get a job to pay for it. Or I might just buy an older Volvo wagon, I don't know. I just wanted to see if anyone could attest to the merits of the S60.

I might add that Volvos are extremely reliable. Our 2011 XC60 has 100,000 miles and it has never had any issues! I have seen many go to 500,000 miles or more in some cases. As long as you take care of them, they really aren't too expensive to maintain. Not to mention the fact that Volvos are more safe than anything else by far. Google Volvo saved my life and read the stories!
