Is the apostasy that is present in the church over the last 50 years similiar to the conditions of the state of affairs in Israel when christ came the first time?
Absolutely. And what did God do to the temple and to Jerusalem because the Jews rejected Jesus? So now, Christians are doing the same thing---not with their lips, but with their actions. They push His commandments and teachings away, but claim to love Him and to be serving Him. They compromise and change God's word to suit themselves just like the Jews were doing, which Jesus rebuked them for.
They are just like what the Bible says apostate believers will be like in the last days in 2 Timothy 3. And they call those who point out the apostasy "legalists" and "judgmental".
(
Shouldn't Christians who find the perversion of the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints appalling be indignant about the condition of Christianity in the last hour? It's the one's who like it that way (just like the Jews liked their way of doing Judaism better than God's) who have a problem with the saints who love the Lord and are spiritually mature and discerning enough to decry the abomination. It's the Christians who think everything's fine who have the problem, and don't realize it. The Christians of the church at Laodicea didn't realize it either.)
They've made a new Jesus for themselves; they don't need or want the real One anymore; and they don't take kindly to being pointed back to Him. They want a God who serves them, who is made after their own likeness, who doesn't care what they do, and who gives them all of the
blessings of His Word with none of their
conditions.
God destroyed the temple and city of the Jews for rejecting Jesus. What do you think He's getting ready to do to the Church and the children of heavenly Jerusalem for making the same error as the Jews?
It is time for judgment to begin at the household of God. (1 Peter 4:17 ESV)
