HI, I know this is an old post, but I am struggling with the same issue. Ever since the internet became widespread I have been addicted to online pornography. Sadly since becoming a christian 15 years ago- I still have the problem. Although now it is a true struggle rather than something I accept as normal.

I battle constantly with the problem- I normally get tempted in my dreams, which makes me think of looking at pornographic pictures- if that day i finally give in to temptation, the session may only last 15 minutes or an hour (it used to last many hours) until I force myself to stop. However, once done, I will suffer from sickening guilt, shame and chronic insomnia for the next few days/weeks. So it is really ruining my life. I only need to briefly look at porn and it messes up my life. I've prayed for deliverance but as of yet, i dont see much breakthrough. The trouble is too I'm in a foreign country and I dont have a church with a support group and am not close enough to anyone to confide in.

I'd really appreciate some support from this forum and any pointers on how I may really finally break these chains

Dear Brother @lazzaparks, your guilt in not uncommon and is the consequence you suffer for not meeting your expectations of what a child of God should be. I'm not sure the following scripture is the best example, but when we find ourselves going against our convictions we have a real fight with our faith.
1 Tim 1:19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck.
There were some that ate certain things against their former religion, and Paul addressed it like this.
1 Cor 10:27 If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.
What has conscience have to do with our walk with Christ? Much! When we doubt our fellowship with our Savior, we are ashamed to fully go before our Father on the throne of grace to ask for help in our time of need. (Heb 4:16).
Many finding themselves in addictions lose hope in recovery due to their inability to grit their teeth and just stop. First we must know that we're God's work in progress.
Php 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure, and He is able.

I will ask if you're assured of your salvation regardless of your ability to be what you perceive God wants you to be? I wrote the following pamphlet I hope helps you know that God loves you, and will never fail or forsake you; you can always reach out to Him.

Dear Father, please help this young man in the time of his temptation that is a fight he cannot overcome alone. Thank You, let his delivery all be to Your glory, and we'll give You the praise for it in Jesus' name. Amen.
Blessings in Christ Jesus. :wave2
