My wife of 21 years and I met in college.
We take trips down memory lane every year or two. That was an amazing time. There's something about that period of life that was so special. Like Alice Cooper said, I'm a boy and I'm a man. I was kinda on my own, but really the school was my safety net, and I could always rely on my parents if I really needed them. But it was that middle period before life was going to get serious. I know there were times when I had very little food and I was sick of it all, but I can't seem to recall those times now. It's all the wonderful memories.
I was the chairman of our Homecoming Week, so 2-6 nights a week for 5 months, we met as a committee to plan events throughout the week leading up to Homecoming. Awesome!
I remember that one day every year when the weather finally broke, and the temperature seemed to go from 50 to 80 degrees over night. On that day, it seemed no one was inside! Everyone was walking around, playing with frisbees, riding bikes... What a great feeling!
The practical jokes we battled over with the room across the hall! I was a Resident Assistant (RA) my junior and senior year, but we still did some fun stuff. One night (in the middle of the night) my roommate and I slid a pack of firecrackers under their door. They're coming out of their sleep in a panic, because of all the noise, flashing lights, and the smell of the gun powder!!
Life is great all this time later with my beautiful bride and three kids. I wouldn't go back if I could, but if I
had to go back to some time in my life, I'd be back in college!!
