I don't know if anyone has heard of her. I wrote a hub on her life over at my hubpages.

She was a very lucrative porn star making a ton of money who gave it all up for Christ and faced a lot of scrutiny for her decision. It is a good story

Everytime you suffer, everytime you cry in the middle of the night, everytime when you drive down the street with tears in your eyes; God is not killing you. He is shaking you. Anything that falls off of you quickly is not your real enemy.

The bible shows us that the greatest heroes and legends of the bible have been transformed.

Jesus said, "If you suffer with me you are going to reign with me. If you pay your dues, I will bless you".

Nice if this lady has been converted.

But I'm not sure of the idea of putting someone like this at the fulcrum of media publicity, in supposed benefit for evangelicals.

Seems to me that so often contemporary evangelicals are looking for publicity rather than the quiet, satisfaction of a life of communion with a reconciled, holy Lord and Christ. (I don't know about the situation of this particular lady.)

Uncomfortable conversations is a part of life sometime. The greatest walk you can have is to the altar.

Amen, to the need to go to the foot of the Cross, yes.

I guess, for publicists to say, Look at me; I used to take my clothes off, might actually attract not the best sort of interest, sometimes.

Those who have read my rambles on these threads might see that for the very little it's worth I'm pretty tolerant when it comes to things such as multiple piercings, tattoos and so forth. (Nudity is in a different category, according to my two cents'. I'd personally not like to draw attention to it, either from now or in the past.)

Study the past if you would like to define the future. The greatest value of the past is as a teacher. We don't dwell in the past but there are some lessons that we learn from the past. Our mistakes teaches the greatest principle of our successes that we can ever hope for. We will always be reminded by critics who is intimidated by your present success.

I see what you say in general terms, certainly.

Re. ex-porn stars, I don't know what further to say, than what I've already said. Except maybe, I guess the parts of the body that a bikini covers, or bedroom scenes, etc. can safely be left to the imagination rather than given publicity, I would have thought. Don't know how else to express myself about this.

She has been a member of a church & doing outreach for a few years. She doesn't want or get much media attention but the most painful thing for her still is her pictures & movies. Because of copyrights etc, she has been legally unsuccessful of shutting her formal sites down. Her story to me has been different than most celebrity converts that use God for attention.

Well, this is excellent.

Good to know of a trophy of the grace of God, as the expression is, who doesn't want publicity.

Yes, I agree, though publicity about having been a porn star is an odd sort of publicity for evangelicals to want.
You're unusually negative about her past, farouk. Strange. Why wouldn't people want to know about someone delivered from a career in pornography by the power of Christ? Why is that any more strange than the testimony of a converted mob hit man or a derelict drug abuser? There is nothing wrong with putting Crissy Moran front and center in an evangelical ministry. God forgave her. That means who have to as well.

That's because Christians care too mucha bout their image.
Yeah, what he said ...

I guess I mean: major on the ministry and minor (be vague...) on the past...

She's not providing details of her work in porn. She's just saying, "I was a porn star." How is that promoting her past? I'm a non-practicing alcoholic and compulsive gambler turned addictions counselor. Am I promoting my past?

So ... you were commenting on her promoting her past without knowing she was not promoting her past?

t-etc:

I do think that one needs to be careful. For example, a glossy full paged spread of someone clothed, which has commentary which basically says: 'Look at me, I used to take my clothes off', probably isn't a good idea. But if she or anyone in her situation is engaged in evangelism, this is great.

Farouk in the book of Hebrews Rahab is mentioned...it states Rahab the whore. Why do think someone can place a tatoo on one's skin to witness, but a porn star can't say Christ has delivered her from her former life. Look at the changed life.
