To me it is mutilation.
Alabaster:
I see what you mean.
What do you think of the way that some young people enlarge the gauge of their earrings, though keep them much smaller than those of the young lady in the picture?
I don't think there is a good reason for it. This stuff has a slippery slope to it. I think the enemy may be behind it, calling out to people to add one more thing, one more thing, one more thing---until eventually one has fallen into a mindset and behaviour of bondage. A person isn't free if he is being plagued by thoughts for an ever-increasing round of self-mutilation, no matter how minuscule each change is.
It's a whirlpool that drags a person down, down, down.
I'd slap him upside the head.Or what would you think if your kid wanted to do it?
I'd slap him upside the head.
Is that a Christian answer???

Ya walk a tough line. Being an old xxx I can remember when the single tiny hole in the lobe was considered sinful mutilation.
My daughter has her ear gauged and I do not approve of it and she is well aware of where I stand on it. It is small enough that if she took it out, it would shrink back to normal. Any bigger and she's in for a life of trouble.
Many companies will not hire you if your ears are gauged. I have a friend that has to glue his ears back together because his work won't allow for the big holes in his ears and honestly, without the hoops in them, they look like an old ladies bosom and nobody finds that attractive.
I feel the need to comment on here.
I have my ears gauged to a size zero, but I wear gauges that people confuse with earings all the time. They're not big, or obnoxious, if you saw me, you wouldn't even know if I didn't say anything.
God is not going to judge me by how large my ear lobes are, incase your early sunday school days escaped you, God looks on the inside.
