Does this mean the whole earth, or just the land?

I'm using Young's Literal Translation here (other translations say "earth" in place of "land").

Isa 24:1 Lo, Jehovah is emptying the land, And is making it waste, And hath overturned it on its face, And hath scattered its inhabitants.
Isa 24:2 And it hath been--as a people so a priest, As the servant so his master, As the maid-servant so her mistress, As the buyer so the seller, As the lender so the borrower, As the usurer so he who is lifting it on himself.
Isa 24:3 Utterly emptied is the land, and utterly spoiled, For Jehovah hath spoken this word:
Isa 24:4 Mourned, faded hath the land, Languished, faded hath the world, Languished have they--the high place of the people of the land.

The KJV translates the word as "earth", but the word is used for everything from land, to a region, and also the earth.

Is that the whole world, or just about Israel or the city?

If you read on it seems that both the Earth (world), and the land (Isreal), are in view. And seems it is speaking of a general time of judgement. The KJV uses both Land, and Earth, varyingly throughout this whole chapter. Along with other references that make it apply to both the World, and the Land.

So the word "earth" itself mean 'land' most of the time,,,but in this case I would say its refering to the world,,,for many reasons ,,,but one is this verse,,,,

About the OP, do you think the verses are talking about something global, or local as in Israel or Jerusalem?
