Yep, in case you weren't aware of it, today is grandparents day today. So Happy Grandparents Day to all of the grandparents out there (and online grandparents like Tessa ) and I hope you all have a wonderful day! I currently still have one grandmother that isn't in Heaven yet but the rest have passed away already. I still have very fond memories of them though. One of my grandmothers was called Bingo Grandma because she used to go to Bingo all of the time. I loved going over her house and playing with her playdough, hide and go seek, and I even liked to go outside with her to help her get the mail and weed her garden.
I called my other grandparents Grandma and Pawpaw and I used to love going to church with them whenever I slept over their house. Just like grandparents often do, they spoiled me rotten! Whenever I went over their house I would finish a whole entire bag of cookies by the end of the weekend. I'm really rather surprised that I never got a stomach ache actually. I got away with a lot more things from Pawpaw than Grandma though. I remember this one time he actually let me have ice cream for lunch! Grandma had gone to the store and left us alone together.
That was a BIG mistake on her part because when she got back she found our containers in the trashcan as evidence although Pawpaw and I tried to play dumb anyways. Pawpaw passed away from cancer in 1999 and even though he's with the Lord now I still miss him dearly. I think about him a lot though and Grandma too even though she didn't pass away until after I graduated high school. I imagine that it was a wonderful reunion in Heaven when they saw each other again and I know that they know how much I love them and miss them and that they'll be watching over me until I get to see them again.
Another big part of my childhood memories is the music that they introduced me to that I listened to with them as a child and I will be posting some of the songs at the end of this post. I am so glad that I have such wonderful memories of them that I got a chance to share with you and please feel free to share some memories of your own.
