A lot of photographers are put off by HDR shots, primarily because so few people know how to do them right. Not long ago, a photographer told me that they were the "Elvis velvet paintings" of photography. Then I showed her some of mine. She said "that doesn't even look like HDR." She didn't even know how it was supposed to be.
