As I just said, minutes ago, this forum is for TV reviews too, but I don't recall seeing any in here

I've only had satellite TV since Jan, but many folk out there musta had it for years: did you first find 'em by accident?

How often do you watch? What stations/programs do you most like?

Do you view via the 'Net or on TV?

I'll yahoo the title question as autologout looms...

There aren't too many TV preachers or stations I consider worthy of watching. Most of the them miss the mark. TBN is the worse of the bunch.

Evangelicals tend to say Trinity Broadcasting is among the best - http://www.tbn.org & that EWTN - the RC apostate radio/TV - is the worst

OH: see details of next week's London evangelistic healing meetings @ http://www.BennyHinn.org

Did any see Morris Cerullo's last of 3 programs today @ upcoming book, 'The Next World War' by prolific Bible prophecy writer Craig Philips?

Advance copies go out in Sept - it goes in secular stores, etc in Oct

See media click @ http://www.mcwe.com

I'm sure some stations show it tonight - it was on http://www.God.TV @ 11am

They may well repeat the regular 2 hours with Rodney Howard Browne too

News just in from http://www.crosswalk.com @ Gospel for Asia highlights the value of Christian TV for their leader:-

Next month, GFA will launch its first 24-hour television channel in India after three years of battle and opposition, and its 54 Bible colleges have thousands of native missionaries undertaking the three-year native missionary training program.

“God is leading us to concentrate on reaching the nearly 300 million people living in real slavery in this country and the Hindu caste system.â€Â

Mr. Yohannan says Christians “have only minutes to work and an eternity to enjoyâ€Â, yet the heart of the world’s “free†Church “is barely beating.â€Â

He says the churches in free countries are shallow and understand little of the heart of Jesus Christ.

“They are in a dark age like the one that occurred before the Reformation brought about by Martin Luther. If true persecution was to occur in any of these countries I think there would be a great falling away.“Christ calls us to follow him and to be his disciples. The free Church needs to understand that persecution is a normal part of this; [Christianity] is not about God delivering up what they want.

“Someday there will be millions and millions around the Throne and it will all make sense ââ‚“ persecution is a price worth paying,†says Mr. Yohannan.

Brother, stay away from that guy! :o

I've seen him several times, on several channels - plus live, when he led Eurofest @ Perry Park, Birmingham in @ '91

If folk wanna click on the link there to Christ For All Nations, there's a wide menu of videos @ Bonnke's amazing missions in Africa & India, where more than once, over a million souls have committed their lives to Christ in one meeting

Ironically, I just saw that I'd missed out a link for United Christian Broadcasters - http://www.ucb.com has many of the best loved preachers on Earth - TD Jakes, Charles Stanley, Charles Price, Adrian Rogers, Tommy Tenney, Joyce Meyer, David Jeremiah, Paul Scanlon, Ray Bevan, Paula White, James McConnel etc

Yahoo any name for their websites & archives: several of 'em are on several stations

I also omitted the new http://www.dove.tv that has much music & some movies

Also http://www.loveworld.com

I've tried several TV guides since getting satellite TV in Jan

Not one of 'em lists Christian TV stations - even though I'm sure many of their programs must get more viewers than many programmes on channels that the guides do list

None of them list the 30 or so music channels that most definitely get more viewers than do channels like FX, Paramount 1&2, Hallmark, Challenge, Artsworld, Civilisation, History, Biography, Bravo, Discovery, Ftn, etc, etc

Young folk out there may well wanna research viewing figures on those links

& I'm sure Christians of all ages will enjoy telling the media how many more folk, in these 'terrible times in the last days' - (2 Timothy 3) - value comfort & inspiration, etc, that only Christ can give, yes?

Enjoy this forecast wet weekend & help spread the 'glorious good news'

God bless!

All of the following people were preachers of the Word, and were people seeking after God's own heart.... Were they not? Such as Moses, he killed an Egyptian, David had Uriah killed, Solomon had 700 wives, the list goes on an on as far as the sins of man goes. But, still we learn from their mistakes and yet, we also learn from their grieving for the sins they committed; the pain they went through as a consequence. What really matters is that we learned from them in the example of the love they had for God in seeking to know him and the examples of repentance they had for the sins they did.

As far as this list of preachers in the quote below...

Those preachers in that list, and many more preachers such as Marilyn Hickey, Kenneth Copeland, etc., preach to literally "millions, upon millions" of people. Does God have anything to do with their teaching and preaching to millions upon millions of people? I believe God is using them, in spite of all their "flaws" for His purpose. God is providing decernment of the spirits to those who are His.

I would say this...... When it comes down to any preacher....

No preacher is perfect. Jesus is the only perfect example.
So then, what are we to do when faced with all of these varieties of preachers? ....... I would think that we, as responsible Christians, are to do this......
1.) Learn from the Holy Word of God.
2.) Listen to the holy spirit in decerning the spirits, and
3.) Separate the wheat from the tares. (Hold onto the truth they relay, and discard what does not line up with the Holy Word of God. That's all we can do with anyone, really. Don't we even find that battle within ourselves? To discard the deception of the whiles of the devil and hold on and stand firm on the truth in the HOLY Word of God. )

  • Matthew 13:24-30
24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
In other examples, even Jesus had to rebuke his very own disciples..... We learn that we are to look to Jesus and line up everything with the truth in the Word.... We should not look to these preachers and the tricky ways they use the words they speak..... If they preach anything other than the Holy Word..... then discard it. But that doesn't mean we are to discard the "truth" they have been given to share with us.

  • Proverbs 27:22
Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.

    Proverbs 27:6
Faithful are the wounds of a friend; But the kisses of an enemy are profuse.

    Proverbs 16:2
All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.

    Ephesians 6:11-20
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
    14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
    15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
    18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

So who is responsible for the discernment of the people who buy what these "preachers" say hook, line and sinker? (other than the teachers I picked out of the list)

2 Tim 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
2 Tim 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2 Tim 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
2 Tim 4:5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

Of course it is up to preachers to be responsible to teach without deception. However, those people who are under their guidance, are they not unwise, those who listen to the "vain words of men", to be without studying and proving themselves to God?

Yes, the saints are to reprove and rebuke, exort with all longsufferring and doctrine. And yes, of course, the saints are to keep watch in all things.
When one comes with "fables" and "false teachings", wouldn't you think the HOLY SPIRIT protects those who are His, and that the The Holy Spirit teaches "those who are His" to discern the spirits?
  • Psalm 9:10
And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
Jesus saves us from the sins of the world. We learn from the Holy Word of God. The Holy Word of God is what we are to trust, not the words of vain men, preachers who are out to steal from the truth of the Holy Word of God. If we study to show ourselves approved, then what worry is there? The Lord knows those who are His, and those who deceive.

It is God who will judge those who are misleading others.
It is the responsibility of the Christian to read their own bible and learn from the Holy Word of God. and for the exception to those who don't know how to read.... I'm sure, that in the end times, God will reveal His truth to those who cannot read.

However, for those who can read.... If people study to show ourselves approved unto God and not man, then they need not be so enamored with "preachers" who are not the "perfect" examples as Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, but instead they will be able to compare what the preacher says to what the truth is in the scriptures. Discerning the spirits is the responsibility of the Christian who has accepted Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. We accept Christ Jesus as our savior, not some preacher who's got it messed up in his own head.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
That is a key, and if "Christians" don't study, then who is to blame?

  • 2 Timothy 2:14-21
14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
    17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
The scritpures teach us fair enough! We should know better than to listen to some preacher's false words. The scriptures warn us of people who err in their teachings, for one example; such people as Hymenaeus and Philetus.
Does that mean we are to ignore the truth they speak?
I would think not to ignore the truth even in the midst of lies.
We are to study to show ourselves approved to God. We, as Christians, should know better than to trust in vain words of men. No preacher is 100% perfect. Only Jesus is the perfect example for us.
  • Proverbs 16:2
All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.
I will trust in the Lord God to be my saving grace from the whiles of the devil.
If a person doesn't study the bible, and trusts only in the word of the preacher, then what does that show you?

We need to be on guard at all times and not trust "man" so readily. Be enamored with Christ Jesus, not the pastor/minister/preacher/teacher.
  • Psalm 18:2
The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

    Psalm 18:30
As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

Put on the Whole Armor of God.
Ephesians 6:11-20

Now was this redundant enough, or what? :tongue .

So then, when it comes to the television broadcasts or radio broadcasts, or any sermon of many of these preachers.... we need to put on the Whole Armor of God as it says in Ephesians 6:11-20 and we need to remember 2 Timothy 2:14-21 and Matthew 13:24-30 ,

Establish a foundation in the Lord God and no preacher who is in error will be able to shake it. :bday:

Hehehe

Alistair Begg onced used these lyrics in a semon where he was discussing the Pop culture and their search for "truth".

"I'm looking for someone to change my life.
I'm looking for a miracle in my life.

And if you could see what it's done to me
To lose the the love I knew
Could safely lead me to
The land that I once knew.
To learn as we grow old
The secrets of our souls."

"Enter in all ye who seek to find within",
As the plaque said on the last door.

Just time to post Acts 17 Berean principle

11Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

There really don't seem to be many Christia TV stations where I'm from, in Taunton. I don't have cable in my area anymore, so I can only watch local.
However, I do have a Public Access Channel nearby that runs my church's services on TV. I often don't get to go to church with everyone else on Sunday as I have a job that requires that I show up at ten Sunday morning, so it's nice to have the service taped that I can watch it a get my dose of The Word when I come home in the evening.

The two I watch the most are the God channel and revelation TV, mostly because they show more UK content. I think one of the problems they have is that they simply do not have the money to produce programs like we are used to seeing today.

In UK, the Christian channels are all available on Freeview: folk who don't have cable or satellite can buy a freeview box - details should still be on http://www.bbc.co.uk

I'll just find the link..

http://www.freeview.co.uk/ - UK folk can enter your postcode there to check availability

Anyone know a USA equivalent?

You can click channel links, above, & watch online, of course

Hope that helps

I've seen several of http://www.revelation.TV low-budget studio shows - their http://www.rmusicTV.com too - & been very impressed with both technical quality & artistic creativity

Many summer/fall festivals & conferences are recorded on top quality gear for transmission over the next few weeks & months on several channels: I really enjoyed Clan Gathering 2005 over the weekend & various sessions of Cross Rhythms in the past week

http://www.BennyHinn.org in London's Excel, 25/26th, will air soon on @ 3 stations, I guess
