I just came back from a walk outside and I was talking with one of the neighbors and we were discussing how great it would be if the swimming pools and beaches were open longer since school is going to be starting again over here apparently in a few weeks and next week is my last Aqua Zumba class. :sad Granted, the lifeguards need to go back to school too, but can't they adjust the hours that go within the school hours? That way everybody could still cool down, swim, have fun, and exercise.

Inflation has driven the cost of services to the moon. Machine made items are still affordable for most, albeit at reduced quality. Anything done by people is unaffordable for many shoppers. Paying natatoria guards $80 per hour including benefit cost is beyond most municipalities.

Are you only allowed to swim in the ocean if lifeguards are on duty?

Its amazing how many people underestimate the power of the ocean. It can be deceiving and insanely dangerous. It is dangerous. People have to be careful especially if they never been in the ocean. If you get in a rip and don't know how to get out you can be doomed. Thank a lifeguard today because the amount of people they have saved from drowning is insane.

Its probably a good idea to close surf beaches for swimming to everyone but surfers because they have a board attached to them for safety , if there is no lifeguards. I just know how dangerous the ocean is, its not a fun water park, its the ocean thats full of currents and rips, tides and waves, and its can be deadly in a second. Rips change and you could get caught in a rip at anytime of there is no lifeguards keeping an eye on the water. I know of too many people who have drowned.

I was in waist deep water the other week on shallows and I took one step and it was over my head and I was in a strong current, im only lucky because I know how to swim. Anyone else they could have been dragged out to sea.

When I owned a boat, the Coast Guard wanted me to keep a float vest available for every person in the boat. They gave me a sticker to put on my boat that it passed inspection.

Its a good idea to always have enough lifejackets on board suited for each person. I think they ushered in a new law that under so many meter vessel its compulsary for all people to wear a lifejacket. I don't agree with that because forcing people to wear a specific item on there body if they want to go out is violating there human right. It is sensible and understandable as everyone should always wear a lifejacket if they are on a boat especially while moving, but I don't agree with making people wear compulsary items on there body or face a penalty. Obviously children are under care and responsibility so they can be compulsary lifejacket as directed until they are old enough to make there own choice.

Thats just my opinion, but the law is the law so i will follow the rules. I wear a lifejacket when moving or if its rough anyhow. I never wore one when parked and its calm. I just go on common sense.

You know, not everyone swims in the ocean. Some people (like me) swim in the lake.

Yes, the floats are great. A good idea to wear one if you are not a champion swimmer.

I'm a pretty good swimmer but I prefer to wear a life jacket when on a speedboat, canoe, etc. I just feel safer that way.
