Hello. I am a new member of your forum, because, as you probably know, sixteen-year-old Christians are very familiar with loneliness in real life.
I am from Russia, I am Orthodox.

I want to show you my translation of one Russian Christmas carol, which I really liked last year and I like it now. This translation, in my opinion, is rather clumsy, and I can also make mistakes in English. But in this simple song, in fact, there are quite interesting lines-finds, for the sake of which I, in fact, started all this.

Original: https://lingvoforum.net/index.php/topic,1741.msg2848765.html#msg2848765

Translation:

Mentally I went to the Bethlehem,
And was in the vertep, and I have seen there,
That Our God, Creator, Savior Jesus Christ's
Been born from the Virgin and now, pathetic, lies.
The King lies in the manger for lambs in the den,
Near to Him Joseph and the Magi stand.
Over Christ quietly the Virgin Mother bent,
How to console Him, only she knew that.
Infant Christ wept with grief, so bitterly, it was
Like if the Little One saw His future Cross.
I pitied Christ, I knelt down, when I hear His cry
And I wept along with the Lord of mine.
And then I asked the Virgin the thing to explain:
"Why did little Christ cry with such a pain?"
And the Virgin said me: "He prayed Father, God,
To warm up with pure love every human heart.
He cried cause the vanity made the people caged,
From eternal beauty now they're estranged,
The children don't love Father", the Mother of God said,
"With sins the souls and hearts the people desecrate.
How to fill Eternity, they can't understand,
He cried cause they go to torment without end.
That is why He cried. Have pity in your soul
And Jesus Christ, the Infant, your God, console.
To console Him, listen to the Church's word,
Live a clean life in the service of the Lord."
The Virgin, Mother of God said quietly in my mind:
"Eternity The Son of God wished to give to mankind.
He came to save the ones who seek God and who need,
To do in hellish tortures His striking numbing deed.
Make love Christ the Infant with all your heart and faith
And go after Him, with your Cross, along His path.
To the humble spirit you'll, like to hell, arrive,
In Christ you'll know secret of eternal life".
Mentally I was in the Bethlehem,
I lit my mind and heart with the secret flame.

This is incredibly beautiful, Ksenia, and you have a pretty name as well.

How long have you been a Christian?

Welcome to our forum, and I hope you benefit from being a member of our community.

I enjoy old carols, btw, including in other languages. Maybe if you are still around for Christmas, we can exchange some videos. I like haunting melodies, and this one reminds me of your carol in some ways.

Lully, lullay, thou little tiny child,
Bye bye, lully, lullay.
Thou little tiny child,
Bye bye, lully, lullay.

O sisters two, how may we do
For to preserve this day
This poor youngling for whom we sing,
“Bye bye, lully, lullay?”

Lully, lullay, thou little tiny child,
Bye bye, lully, lullay.
Thou little tiny child,
Bye bye, lully, lullay.

Herod the king, in his raging,
Chargèd he hath this day
His men of might in his own sight
All young children to slay.

Lully, lullay, thou little tiny child,
Bye bye, lully, lullay.
Thou little tiny child,
Bye bye, lully, lullay.

That woe is me, poor child, for thee
And ever mourn and may
For thy parting neither say nor sing,
“Bye bye, lully, lullay.”

Lully, lullay, thou little tiny child,
Bye bye, lully, lullay.
Thou little tiny child,
Bye bye, lully, lullay.

Hi Ksenia and welcome to CF :wave2

Thank you for sharing this song with us in English. It's very thought provoking to see Jesus as a baby and knowing what He was sent into the world to do that we can have eternal life with Him.

We do not get very many teenagers here and it is refreshing that you are now a part of this community. I pray we would get more Teens that can share with each other and with all of us. God bless your heart and looking forward to getting to know you better. :)
