There was a disastrous seventy vehicle crash on Interstate 4 in central Florida just before 5;00 a.m. this morning. Thick smoke combined with dense fog creating what was described as a sudden wall.

There are four confirmed deaths. Thirty-eight people have been taken to hospitals and trauma centers stretching from Tampa to Orlando.

I have listened to interviews all day long from people who were involved in this one way or another. The first 911 call that came in brought a Polk County Deputy to the scene. His patrol car was hit four times. As banged up as he was, he was doing everything that he could to help other victims, and is hurting most because he witnessed a man burn to death and could do nothing to help him.

People tell of not being able to see their hand in front of their face, due to the conditions. They would exit their vehicle, and listen to one impact after another. One explosion after another.

There were reportedly twenty semi tractor trailer trucks involved. At least six of them were on fire.

Interviews with nurses tell of how they were concerned with their own loved ones who they knew were traveling that road, and had not been heard from.

Rescue workers were unable to reach many of the victims until the smoke and fog cleared. Helicopters were stationed nearby, and could fly over, but were unable to land. First responders on the ground were not able to get through the wreckage, and had to go from one vehicle to another on foot, looking for victims.

Many were trapped in their cars, and could do nothing to help themselves or one another. Others talked about offering whatever they had in the way of first aid kits and bandages. Vehicles were stacked on top of one another.

The fog and smoke that caused the wreck, combined with smoke and fire from the cars and trucks burning. Hazmat teams are on scene trying to clean up the fuel spills, as well as trying to discover what the cargo might have been in the back of the rigs that burned.

Authorities have tons of questions to answer. People involved are in need of healing. Cars and trucks need to be replaced and repaired. The Red Cross has set up to assist rescue workers.

Father,
Your word says that the Holy Spirit will tell us what to pray when we don't know what to pray. Give us the words, I ask, in Jesus' name. Amen
