That's cuz in some Polish words, there is a little hook under the 'a.' Then, it is pronounced 'on' but it's a more nasal sound, like in French. So, it's actually, pownch-kee.

I hear ya , Steve. I like Bavarian Creams, but the confectionery sugar gets all over the place. So, I opt of the Boston Cream instead.
