for a mod on this forum, you are very full of hate, and act VERY disrespectful.

''Peace'' What a Hoot :-D
This coming from you is a compliment. Thank you!

You are right. I do ''hate'' when people purposely teach false doctrine, when people like this priest will hold peoples hands as he escorts them to hell, I hate when people like this priest fellow who are supposed to be an example of someone who is above reproach and instead has the doors open and welcomes sin instead of the sinner.. yes I get mad...
I hate when people Use Jesus name in vain or put words in his mouth. If you think I was harsh, you have not seen anything yet....
If you believed in Jesus; Do u think he was a pacifist or as Adrian Rodgers said on the radio this morning a ''fire and brimstone preacher''?

Jesus is a God of Love ''YES, but he is also a just God and has to be true to his nature, and a God who can not stand in the presence of Sin as Romans teaches us will punish sin!!! AND to a higher degree those who lead people into hell.......

Don't shoot the messenger, I am only reporting what the bible says.

Bishops Pass Guidelines to Gay Ministry
Associated Press

Print Page

BALTIMORE, Nov 14 - The nation's Roman Catholic bishops overwhelmingly approved new guidelines Tuesday on outreach to gays, trying to support gay parishioners while strictly affirming the church stance that same-sex relationships are "disordered."

Gay Catholic activists immediately judged the document a failure that will push gay and lesbians away from the church.

The statement, "Ministry to Persons with a Homosexual Inclination," upholds the Catholic prohibition against same-gender marriage and adoption by gay or lesbian couples.

Yet bishops insisted that they're trying to be more "welcoming than condemning."

The document says it's not a sin to be attracted to someone of the same gender - only to act on those feelings. The bishops also state that children of gay Catholics can undergo baptism and receive other sacraments in most cases if they are being raised in the faith.

Still, under the guidelines, parishes must instruct gays to remain celibate. The bishops are also discouraging gays from making "general public self-disclosures" within their churches about their sexual orientation.

"It is not sufficient for those involved in this ministry to adopt a position of distant neutrality with regard to Church teaching," the bishops stated. Gay outreach must include teaching that is "welcoming yet challenging, loving but firm in the truth," they said.

The 194-37 vote, with one abstention, came at a meeting of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Sam Sinnett, president of DignityUSA, an advocacy group for gay Catholics, said the new guidelines reflect the bishops' ignorance about sexuality. He said the document would alienate gays.

"This document recommends the most unhealthy thing to do which is to stay emotionally and spiritually in the closet," Sinnett said.

solely because you disagree with the way he interprets scripture, does not mean that you should call his religion a "cult" and demean it so much.

I can only quote Jesus, in hopes that you can understand.

But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

3"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

Just a little compromising is OK, right? After all, as long as they say it's "disordered" it's OK to accept them. Oh I'm sorry, am I being sarcastic again? :biggrin

Jesus said to come out from among them and be separate in 2 Col. 6:17. He did NOT say to compromise with the devil and accept sin.

Peace
I see you responded with Liberal response #1 :smt022

Why are you judging, Jesus said don't judge... Then you take him out of context.
Peace read and learn

Matthew 7:1-6 1 "Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. 3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye'; and look, a plank is in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. 6 Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.

Ok, so what does all this mean?

Matthew 7:1-6

7:1 Sometimes these words of our Lord are misconstrued by people to prohibit all forms of judgment. No matter what happens, they piously say, “Judge not, that you be not judged. But Jesus is not teaching that we are to be undiscerning Christians. He never intended that we abandon our critical faculty or discernment. The NT has many illustrations of legitimate judgment of the condition, conduct, or teaching of others. In addition, there are several areas in which the Christian is commanded to make a decision, to discriminate between good and bad or between good and best. Some of these include:

1. When disputes arise between believers, they should be settled in the church before members who can decide the matter (1 Cor. 6:18).

2. The local church is to judge serious sins of its members and take appropriate action (Matt. 18:17; 1 Cor. 5:9-13).

3. Believers are to judge the doctrinal teaching of teachers and preachers by the Word of God (Matt. 7:15-20; 1 Cor. 14:29; 1 Jn. 4:1).

4. Christians have to discern if others are believers in order to obey Pauls command in 2 Corinthians 6:14.

5. Those in the church must judge which men have the qualifications necessary for elders and deacons (1 Tim. 3:1-13).

6. We have to discern which people are unruly, faint hearted, weak, etc., and treat them according to the instructions in the Bible (e.g., 1 Thess. 5:14).

7:2 Jesus warned that unrighteous judgment would be repaid in kind: “For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged. This principle of reaping what we sow is built into all human life and affairs. Mark applies the principle to our appropriation of the Word (4:24) and Luke applies it to our liberality in giving (6:38).

7:35 Jesus exposed our tendency to see a small fault in someone else while ignoring the same fault in ourselves. He purposely exaggerated the situation (using a figure of speech known as hyperbole) to drive home the point. Someone with a plank in his eye often finds fault with the speck in the eye of another, not even noticing his own condition. It is hypocritical to suppose that we could help someone with a fault when we ourselves have a greater fault. We must remedy our own faults before criticizing them in others.

7:6 Verse 6 proves that Jesus did not intend to forbid every kind of judgment. He warned His disciples not to give holy things to dogs or to cast ... pearls before swine . Under the Mosaic Law dogs and swine were unclean animals and here the terms are used to depict wicked people. When we meet vicious people who treat divine truths with utter contempt and respond to our preaching of the claims of Christ with abuse and violence, we are not obligated to continue to share the gospel with them. To press the matter only brings increased condemnation to the offenders.

So to summarize;

What was Jesus calling for when He ordered His followers to “judge not? Did He want us to close our eyes to error and evil? Did He intend that managers forgo critical performance reviews of their employees? Or that news editors and art critics pull their punches? Or that juries refrain from judgment? Should we decline any assessment of others, since none of us is perfect?

No, those would all be mis applications of Jesus teaching. In the first place, He was not commanding blind acceptance, but grace toward others. Since all of us are sinners, we need to stop bothering with the failings of others and start attending to serious issues of our own. His words here extend His earlier expose of hypocrisy. Don't blame or put down others while excusing or exalting yourself, Jesus was saying.

Is there room, then, to assess others, especially when we know we are not perfect? Yes, but only in Jesus way: with empathy and fairness, and with a readiness to freely and fully forgive. When we are called upon to correct others, we should act like a good doctor whose purpose is to bring healing not like an enemy who attacks.

While I agree we are to love the sinner, your church turns around and loves the sin and whats more has made peace with the sin of Homosexuality.
I browswed your web site and there is no mention of well anything other than seeker friendlyness. No Trinity, No Jesus is God, Certainly no mention of Hell, Nada..... You have no credibility.... If you read the Bible, you would see that homosexuality is a sin. Try reading it sometime...

He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. 46 Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? 47 He who is of God hears God's words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God."

I am not satanic, I am a Christian Priest. Simply because you disagree with the teachings of my church makes neither myself or the Church I represent satanic but I wonder if you can see that?

Your actions here do your version of Christianity no service, you are bigoted, you are insulting and you are desperately frightened that you may not have that unique grip on truth that you feel you must to be saved.

The Good News of Jesus Christ is that God, in and of Godself did all that needs being done. Read Matthew 27, the ONE PLACE in the NT where Jesus talks about what standard God will use in judging us. It is not theological rectitude, not slavish insistence that your way is the only way, it is service to Christ in others.

There's nothing stopping a non-sterile homosexual from "having a child". That's impossible for a homosexual couple to achieve.

The standards for adoption should be the strictest of all - two parents, one male one female, nice house, high income, etc.

Any deviation from that should be a disqualifier.

Well, a high income/economic stability has been a requirement to adopt in the US since the beginning. Money doesn't buy happiness, but it prevents alot of problems.

It's just a fact that the higher the socio-econonic bracket the parents are in, the better their children do overall in life. Children of single parents do the worst.

There are exceptions to the rule, but there's no reason to handicap adoptions from the get-go.

What then do u do with Leviticus? Oh, that does not count, thats the OT....

May the Word of God REBUKE YOU you false teacher.
1 tim 4:1 1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,

2 tim 3: 1-7 1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

2 tim 4:1-4 1 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at* His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

2 peter 2:1-2 1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed.

I wonder how you get from 'Jesus is a liberal' to your rant above? It seems to me that it says much more about you than about me. You seem frightened that Jesus might well choose to fellowship with 'all those liberal sinners' than with you and given the evidence of Jesus' life, you would be right.

Actually it was a Judeo-Christian saying long before Wicca came along. It is recorded as having been said by Rabbis such as Gamaliel and Hillel and by Church fathers such as Aquinas and Augustine. But don't let that stop you from libelling anyone will you?

The stand of the Church of Interfaith Christians is not quite the same as that of the ACI but they, like us, deal with folk who have been scarred by those who profess Christianity and use it as a cover for their hatreds and bigotries.

Personally I like Romans and Galatians & is there a problem with reverencing the words of Jesus more than the words of Paul? As far as the OT is concerned you might want to read Hebrews and remember Paul's contention that as Christians we are not bound by the Old Law.

From a 'religious' perspective I know nothing of what has been going on in the previous posts between jg and kiwimac. At the moment anyway I'm not particularly interested. The tone of jg's posts, however, say it all. I'm absolutely APPALLED by the red-faced hysteria, the threats, and the out of control fanatacism paraded as Christianity as shown by the posts of jg toward a fellow Christian. How dare you talk down to others in the manner that you do, jg. You're NOT the jg that used to frequent this forum.

Right now, THAT is my only take on this particular issue!!

SputnikBoy,

You should read before posting. I'm not going to defend anyone here. But do you know anything about the ACI? If not I ask that you study it, then come back with input on why Jg feels so strongly as he does.

I have a question kiwimac?
Why are most of your bishops gay? It's a valid question. I'll post a link with all the bishops in the ACI who have come out openly in public and stated they were gay, and this was accepted by the ACI. But, I would like to hear your opnion before I judge it. Because then I will judge it.

Oh by the way Jesus did have fellowship with prostitutes as He did with Mary. But He also told her to go and SIN NO MORE.

Jhn 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

And what does the very next verse say??

Jhn 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Mary became closer to Christ. Even anoiting His feet with precious oils. Because He forgave her. But if she refused to listen to Jesus. What would have happened? She would have continued to live in darkness.

Some go as far to teach that Jesus slept with Mary. We have a right to call these people a cult because of their teachings. Well help me understand why the ACI accepts homosexuality before I judge you and say it's a cult?

These are valid questions that should be answered. Coming from someone who calls themself a priest with the ACI should be able to vouch that these are questions that Need an ANSWER!!

Hmm,

Bishop Hugh is married, his wife is a fine woman, his daughter is an intelligent, erudite young woman.

The other bishops I wouldn't know about and frankly, I really don't care what their sexual orientation is. All I know is this: God loves all folk enough to die for them, Straight or Gay, Lesbian or Bisexual, trans-sexual or transgendered. I can do no less.

Oh & BTW, your example of the woman taken in adultery is an interesting one. At least some modern scholars believe the "and sin no more" to be a scribal gloss with the real ending being Jesus saying, " Neither do I condemn you, go"

Feel free to post your link to the ACI, I am not ashamed of my fellow clergy, Sons and Daughters of God.
