Ah, so intellectual assent to the gospel is important to you. Okay, but is that absolutely necessary for faith to exist? My answer - no, faith is beyond such a requirement.
No. Understanding the Gospel is.
We must hear and obey the Gospel to be saved.
How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:
“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,
Who bring glad tidings of good things!”
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” Romans 10:14-16

Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, 1 Peter 1:22-23
How can a baby obey the Gospel before they have the ability to speak words or understand them?
