2024 Website Hosting Fees

Total amount
$1,048.00
Goal
$1,038.00
Why?
He's simply giving the people what they want... a show and spectacle. People want entertained and spend vast amounts of money to be entertained 24/7.
A few years back I had the opportunity to visit the home of a man who was financially independent. Money was no issue for him. At his home he showed me around. Toys, nothing but toys. All of it. The toys that lost favor or were broken were stored either in the 4 car garage or one the many storage buildings on the property. There was no library, no sign of any kind of craft, no form of mental challange other than video games or anything to do with learning or furthering an interest or talent.
"He who dies with the most toys wins."
Right?

After that I realized he pretty much depicted the cross section of our society. "Entertain me" is the demand not the option.

When people decide they've had enough of being treated like children then maybe things will change and guys like Hinn will be out of business. But I'm not holding my breath. In the meantime the entertainment industry will continue to feed the demands of the people who have no desire to use their head for anything other than garbage collection and a place to put headphones.

Who are the heroes today? Entertainers and sports figures.
Think about it.

Reflections
Blessed Are Those Who Hunger

Quotations to stir heart and mind.
Compiled by Richard A. Kauffman

BLESSED are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Matthew 5:6

IF THIS VERSE is to you one of the most blessed statements of the whole of Scripture, you can be quite certain you are a Christian; if it is not, then you had better examine the foundations again.
David Martyn Lloyd-Jones, Studies in the Sermon on the Mount

IT IS THE DESIRE for God which is the most fundamental appetite of all, and it is an appetite we can never eliminate. We may seek to disown it, but it will not go away. If we deny that it is there, we shall in fact only divert it to some other object or range of objects. And that will mean that we invest some creature or creatures with the full burden of our need for God, a burden which no creature can carry.
Simon Tugwell, The Beatitudes

THIS BEATITUDE prompts a look at our heart's desire. What hungers and desires operate within us? Which of them commands our utmost loyalty?
John W. Miller, The Christian Way

IT IS NOT the one who has attained righteousness but the one who hungers for it whom the Beatitudes assert God blesses.
Bonnie B. Thurston, Religious Vows, the Sermon on the Mount, and Christian Living

THUS, because it is commonly thought that the rich are made wealthy through their own greed, Jesus says in effect: "No, it is just the opposite. For it is righteousness that produces true wealth. Thus, so long as you act righteously, you do not fear poverty or tremble at hunger. Rather, those who extort are those who lose all, while one who is in love with righteousness possesses all other goods in safety."
Chrysostom, Homilies on the Gospel of Saint Matthew

BIBLICAL is more than a private and personal affair; it includes social righteousness as well. …

Thus Christians are committed to hunger for righteousness in the whole human community as something pleasing to a righteous God.
John R. W. Stott, The Message of the Sermon on the Mount

THE HUNGER for righteousness is the one appetite that Christ blessesâ€â€not to covet possessions or achievement or recognition, but to live, through every action and perception, the kingdom of God.
Jim Forest, The Ladder of the Beatitudes

ONE MIGHT EAT and eat of the superficial, cotton-candy righteousness vended by the professional religious hucksters and never have his hunger assuaged. Or he might drink and drink of their holy water and never have his thirst quenched. But the kingdom righteousness is meat indeed and drink indeedâ€â€rich, nourishing, satisfying.
Clarence Jordan, Sermon on the Mount

2 Timothy 3

Godlessness in the Last Days

1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.

2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,

3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,

4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of Godâ€â€

5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.

6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires,

7 always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth.

8Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truthâ€â€men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected.

9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.

Paul's Charge to Timothy

10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance,

11 persecutions, sufferingsâ€â€what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them.

12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,

13 while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it,

15 and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.[/

Sorry, Vic: I didn't think a thorough rebut of slander was hijacking  - surely it's fair, as one post would be too large for today's bite-size society?

Kinda between a rock & a hard place, yes?

Maybe this is more relevant:- 8-)

One thing's for sure: with the proliferation of online Christian forums, we need to 'adjust metatags' as a yahoo for Christianforums now puts us at @ the 15th entry - on the 2nd page of results, that some folk wouldn't bother turning to

& we need precisely the variety of posts & threads that I daily do to outshine competitor sites - readers can click my name...the 'my www' & 'find all posts by...' to confirm that I was UK *1 salesman in several national & international companies, so I know what I'm talking about :infinity:

I just never did do a basic PC course, so I don't know how to adjust meta-tags & promo our thread elsewhere, like the much-bigger-but-too-unwieldy http://www.ChristianForums.com does so successfully :-?

Not trying to argue or rebel, Vic - just offering sound advice to benefit all of us :biggrin

God bless!

Ian :-D

Thats exactly what I've been trying to put across to Mr.VERS. It is not slander at all but something for anyone who believes in God in put into consideration, surely the bible has told us there are wolves in sheeps clothing ...lets ask for the spirit of discernment and the truth ...

I say not to worry about this wolf in sheep's clothing. I think that is quite obvious to anyone who is at least the same level as the Wizard of Oz's scarecrow.

Besides, with all the violence on TV these days, we need some Christian entertainment. I was ROFL! :-D Thanks for sharing that hilarious video.
