Things I get disappointed about in the CCM industry.

That is true. Slayer fans do need Jesus. However, something like this does not look good for Christian Bands.

If I read right, I remember hearing incidents about Stryper when they toured with W.A.S.P. Apparantly, W.A.S.P. threw Pornography out into the audience. We just don't need to fire any fuel. It sends mixed messages about christianity.

I'm sure their heart is in the right place but the bible says that light cannot exist with darkness. Slayer and all other death metal bands sing and model blasphemy, Satanism and anti-Christ messages. It is sending a lousy message by lumping themselves in on the same circut with the likes of Slayer.

Do you really think that the average metaller who is there to bang their head to Satanic anthems are really going to respond to Stryper? What they will most likely see is another metal band on the stage to help fuel their aggression in the mosh pit.

I'll give Stryper credit. At least you can hear their lyrics when Michael Sweet sings unlike certain 'death' metal Christian bands (an oxymoron if I've ever heard one) which cannot be distinguished by looks or music from Gorgoroth, Deicide and other blasphemous death metal bands, unless you have a lyric sheet right in front of you.

There comes a time when the 'you have to reach them on their level' argument becomes farcical and God is being mocked.

There have been some others that I can't remember. This is getting the Christian message out to the masses and it also shows the respect that Christian music is starting to get.

It's mainly due to the fact it appears that way. Maybe Stryper's main objective is to be a witness to the Slayer crowd. Maybe they were trying to witness to Tom Araya, who is Catholic but sends out a message on an album that God Hates Us All.

I find it quite ironic how people say certain music can't Christian, but now you're taking these same bands & saying 'Christian bands shouldn't do that'. Kinda like an athiest blaming God for his problems, isn't it?

Secondly, i find it interesting that you quite obviously know little to nothing about people that listen to metal, yet here you are trying to speak for them & how they think.

Christian bands playing alongside secular bands is nothing new, its been going on for over 20 yrs. And thats a good thing. See, the CCM industry (& by CCM i mean the radio friendly pop stuff, not metal) is full of Christian artists playing Christian music for other Christians at Christian venues. Nothing wrong with that, except that then tend to try & talk about how they are 'reaching out'. Preaching to the choir is not 'reaching out'. On the other hand, most Christian metal bands play both sides. There is the Christian fan base & shows that goes on, but they also reach out to non-Christians by playing alongside secular bands. One of the only forms of 'Christian' music that does not solely cater to Christians.

And i can tell you, from 1st hand knowledge & experience of 20 yrs in the metal scene, the secular metalheads fully understand what the Christian bands are about. I have never met, or heard of any non-Christian metalhead who responded to Christian bands in the way you are saying they do.

So rather than spending your time on here witch hunting & slamming other Christians for going out & being witnesses why don't you log off & go to a Slayer show & be a witness. Would you have the guts to stand on a stage in front of 100's or 1000's of non-Christians who's largely hostile towards God & take a stand? Because thats what many of these bands do regularly. So if you want to question the fruits of people... they go to the non-Christians, to the places where people are against God, & preach God..... you sit on the internet & nitpick other Christians ministries. Talk about 'things i get disappointed about'.

How can you be disappointed with disciples going "even to the remotest part of the earth"? Do you honestly think that Slayer fans would listen to some guy in a suit and tie preaching to them about Jesus and love? I don't. I've been to the heaviest concerts and those are some hurting kids who need Jesus. I don't care how the preacher dresses, as long as they don't dress up the Gospel. Wasn't Jesus along side the prostitutes? Why can't Stryper be along side Slayer?

Let me restate myself a little. I think Stryper is a true Christian band. Any band that throws out bibles to a crowd, especially in front of an anthrax audience, has something to it. I also read about their bob larson interview, and that was amazing! I'm trying to reach that level of patience myself. I think I'm getting close, but no where near what the members of this band have.

I'm just stating something that I don't think is the best decision. I can understand them witnessing to stryper fans, but what about Stryper fans that are christians who are attending that concert? Couldn't they possibly have somewhat of a bad influence based on Slayer's music, or how about when they are in concert next to Slayer fans? I can see it though as metal fans learning that Christian's can to head bang and have fun. Just my position on it.
