Whispers in the Dark, by Skillet

I guess so, yeah. Sounds about right.

questdriven:

Kind of hard to describe sometimes, I guess, but maybe it's the combination of the build up with the increasing rhythms. And then with all this going on and then the singers roar - hopefully with a Christian message - it's this that makes the listener to Christian heavy metal think, Yes well I now know what I like...

(If this makes any sense?)

I also like sad songs, like this one, for some reason.

I listened to it; this one is a bit more subdued than Skillet is sometimes.

Blessings.

Whispers in the Dark, by Skillet

questdriven:

So do you like it when, after a quiet start, it really gets LOUD after about 22 seconds?

Typical Skillet, right?

Blessings.

I suppose so. :chin It certainly works with this song.
My favorite song by Skillet is Hero. The vocals are great, I like the rhythm of the guitar, and I love the lyrics. I identify with the lyrics a bit, too.
Also love their song Monster. The music combined with the vocals, I guess. Plus it has a bit of a personal meaning for me.

The Monster one sounds like typical Skillet, too, doesn't it.

You know, if the lyrics of Monster are what you identify with, maybe the Galatians passage about the fruit of the Spirit would also be a good counterbalance, right? to read and think about whenever you feel that way.

Re. the combination of Monster's emphatic rhythm and the vocals which are almost shouts makes it a dramatic song, doesn't it?

Interesting, too, about the repeated references in the Monster lyrics to something being just 'under the skin'; for many people, on the skin is also where they like to express the way they feel, isn't it?

Blessings.

Galatians, eh? Sounds good. :)

I heard that according to Skillet, the song is supposed to be about struggling with sin. Someone also said it sounds like it could be about an addiction of some sort, and I think this could apply, too.
And yeah, I like dramatic songs. xD

The reference is Galatians 5.22-23. (Read it again tonight before you go to sleep, maybe! :) Great passage.)

I think what Christian heavy metal has done has established the perpetual shout as an art form that blends with very loud rhythms, in connection with Christian or Christian-related lyrics.

You really do seem to like it, anyway.

Blessings.

The War Inside, by Switchfoot

...if this and "Vices Verses" are what the rest of the songs on the Vice Verses album are like, I need to buy this album next time I go on iTunes looking to buy something.

I think they classify as post-grunge alternative rock... if this makes sense?

You really like it right? Kind of, really vigorous.

Blessings.

IDK. I'm not good at identifying genres. xD
I like it, though, yeah. =)

questdriven:

The War Inside by Switchfoot has an interesting use of a constant note, doesn't it? with a recurring rhythm in the background.

Thematically, for some reason my mind went to Romans 7, where Paul wrote of his inner, spiritual conflict.

Blessings.

Love Like this by Ayiesha Woods

I want to stay in Your presence all day
And I don't care if the time slips away
There's no place I'd rather be
When You're here surrounding me with Your love

I'm finding out that nothing compares
With these endless moments we share
Now I have peace of mind
Fulfillment of a great kind when I'm with You

(Chorus:)
And I… I've never known love like this before
My heart is Yours
And, I... I've never known love like this before
Lord, You take my breath away

Lord I can't imagine not having You here
And I find it so amazing
What I feel when You're near
When it's just me and You
There's nothing that I can't do
So take me away

I never want this to end...

And I… I've never known love like this before
My heart is Yours
And, I... I've never known love like this before
Lord, You take my breath away

I am surrounded by Your love (it's everywhere)
And all that I am is Yours forever

And I… I've never known love like this before
My heart is Yours
And, I... I've never known love like this before
Lord, You take my breath away

Just To Be With You by Third Day

I've heard a tale that a man would climb a mountain
Just to be with the one he loves.
How many times has he broken that promise?
It has never been done
Well I never climbed the highest mountain,
but I walked the hill of Calvary

And just to be with you I'll do anything,
there's no price I would not pay, no
Just to be with you I will give everything.
I would give my life away.
Yeaaaa

I've heard it said that a man would swim an ocean
Just to be with the one he loves.
But all of those dreams are an empty emotion
It can never be done.
Well I never swam the deepest ocean
But I walked upon the raging sea

And just to be with you I'll do anything,
there's no price I would not pay, no
and just to be with you I would give everything.
I would give my life away.
Yeaaaa

And I know that you don't understand the fullness of my love
How I died upon the Cross for your sin
And I know that you don't realize how much that I give you
And I promise I would do it all again

Just to be with you I've done everything
There's no price I did not pay, no
Just to be with you I gave everything
Yes I gave my life away.
Yeaaaaa

Just to be with you
Oh, just to be with you (3x)
