Ok, lets deal with "Why Paul".
Now, for the benefit of those who are not seminary trained and have not been taught how to "rightly divide the word" .....2nd Timothy 2:15...... lets start there.
The bible is not a novel....its not a bedtime story,.....its an instruction manual, its the word of life, its light for life, its the word of God and the words of Jesus, and its a road map to heaven, and its also a rule book as well as the most important thing, its the way you understand how God thinks, what God has done, what God is currently doing, and what He's going to do next.
However, to access its treasure and its wisdom we need some basic instruction.
This is very simple...the basic instruction that you have to have, is:
1st) You have to be born again, as the bible is spiritually discerned 1 Corinthians 2: 14 or its never going to be understood by you.
See, the bible is full of spiritual words, often given by the Holy Spirit, and you have to have the Spirit of God IN YOU, if you are going to understand spiritual words, and spiritual wisdom.
Remember that God is A Spirit, and not just "spirit" as many of the new version say....and why it has to be
" A Spirit" and not "spirit" is because there is an unholy spirit and there is A Holy Spirit.
So, if your bible says that "God is spirit", then your bible has generalized and concluded that all spirits are the same, and therefore equal, and that is not True.....So, check your bible version and maybe you can throw it away if need be, based on this one verse... John 4:24
2.) Now, here is what you have to understand, its critical that you understand this, or the New Testament will perhaps seem to contradict itself.
Its like this.....God deals with mankind differently at different times.
Let me say it again......From Genesis - Revelation.......this is the history of God dealing with man from Adam till God winds it all up ....And so, in all these generations God deals with man differently depending on what is called the >dispensation< you are dealing with.......This is to say....during what time period.
Consider that from Adam to the Cross, you had no written law till Moses showed up.
Then, you had another dispensation (time period) from Moses to Jesus.., "the law came by Moses, but grace and truth came by JESUS CHRIST"...John 1:17 .. and then you have where you are right now.....which is a dispensation called the "time of the Gentiles"......Luke 21:24.
Thats the dispensation (time period) that you are living in currently.
Now, do you see that there are different things going on, at different times, as God is dealing differently with mankind?
Do you notice that in our dispensation, we are not sacrificing Bulls and Doves on a alter of fire?
But at one time, before Jesus showed up, they were, as during that dispensation that was how GOD was dealing with His people.
Now, in the New Testament Blood Covenant of Jesus "time of the gentiles", God is dealing with them based on the Blood of Jesus.
See it?
It a different dispensation now......"time of the Gentiles".
And this will end, (but thats maybe for a later thread that we might discuss that a bit).
So, to keep it simple, there are rules for each dispensation, and this means, you dont try to take the rules from a dispensation you are not in, and apply them to your dispensation (time period).
Understand?
You are in the NEW COVENANT "time of the gentiles), which is Jesus shedding His holy blood for the sins of the world in the "time of the gentiles".
Now you have to get that, or you'll be stuck in Old Testament land trying to mix up the blood of Jesus with the 10 commandments, or worse .
Follow me?
So, to understand the NEW TESTAMENT, you have to study what is applicable during the time period that the "time of the Gentiles" is all about..
So, lets get specific...
You are in the "time of the gentiles", and no matter if you are jew or gentile, the rules for this dispensation, are the only ones in effect till this dispensation changes, and that would be the Tribulation time period .
As that is the >next< dispensation.
But, we are not there yet, so, we dont go to many verses found in Hebrews that are designed to explain the rules for that dispensation, and try to jam them incorrectly into the "time of the gentiles'.
So, specifically, you are in the "time of the gentiles" and you have one certain Apostle that Jesus chose after He ascended as your "go to" Apostle to get your revelation of the specific rules that deal with Salvation in the "time of the gentiles.....and this would be Paul, who is your "apostle to the gentiles".
No other apostle is specifically designated as the "apostle to the gentiles".... Romans 11:13.
Its Paul and Paul alone who JESUS ORIGINALLY CHOSE to reveal the Gospel of the Grace of God.
Jesus literally took Paul away by himself and taught him personally this Gospel that is to be preached in the "time of the Gentiles".
And this is why Paul tells you in Galatians 1:8 that any other Gospel being preached, other this HIS as exactly as HE teaches it and preaches it, is anathema ..is "cursed".
No other apostle says such a thing, and often you'll find the other apostles, like James, writing an epistle that is seeming to contradict what Paul writes in Colossians, Galatians, Ephesians, Titus, Timothy, and Romans, and the reason is, that this Epistle of James, was written before Paul had established the revelation of the Grace of God within the body of Christ.
Its a shame that we dont have the later epistles of James, tho its possible that James was killed before he had been taught by Paul, the revelation of the Grace of God.
Now the SUPER KEY to connecting all these dots im giving you is to understand one true thing.
The bible is a continuing revelation, a continuing "being revealed", a continuing transition from the beginning of Genesis to the end of the time that God has crated mankind to exist within.
So, you have to grasp that the bible is continually transitioning.....its never stops, it only lingers in time periods with rules that specifically apply during these different dispensations.
The transition we are in, right now, is from Jesus the Jew, coming to deal with the House of Israel until He was crucified, and then, once resurrected the "time of the gentiles" was literally established, and so the rules changed and out went the Jewish message to the "house of Israel, and in went the Savior of the World who shed His blood as, "God so loved the World".
So, that is the transition that you are living inside of, right now.
"time of the Gentiles".
So, to wind this little bible study up....
You have to be born again to understand the Spiritual words that make up the New Testament.
You have to "rightly divide the word", and that means you are to understand that the bible is not a novel, its a book of progressive revelation that explains how God deals with mankind differently during different times, often different millennia, and that the RULES CHANGE and you have to understand the differences, as this is "rightly dividing the word".
You are to realize that your "time period" is the "time of the Gentiles" and your specific apostle is Paul, who was chosen by Jesus.....Ephesians 3:2,3, 4.
""""""If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:
How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ).""""""
So, you are to "study to show yourself approved", and you are to establish your heart with Grace... Hebrews 13:9... and not with works or strange doctrine.
You are to study the >mercy of God<, as taught by Paul, in ... Romans 3- 10, Ephesians, Galatians, and Colossians..
You are to share this revelation of the Grace of God, "The Gospel", the "Good News", = that Jesus came into the world to offer Himself as the only way to reconcile you to the Father".... with the lost.
That is your ministry.
